This collecting S&W pistols (a few revolvers, too) has gotten out of hand . . .

A little over two years ago:

1. I had a collection of eight custom (8) Randall knives I put together from 1997 to 2002 worth around $400 to $500 each. I now have only my working Randall (Model 5 Camp and Trail).

2. I had a collection of war comic books that I put together between 1991 and 2001 that I could (and did) sell for more than a few thousand dollars.

3. I had 6 high grade Swiss K31 rifles. Now I have 3.

4. I had 8 high grade M1 Garands. Now I have 5.

5. I had two Springfield XD-45 pistols. Now I have none.

However, I now have 1 S&W 2nd generation and 21 3rd generation pistols, plus 3 N frame, 4 L frame and 2 J frame revolvers. And you know what, I don't feel bad at all.

BTW, I have been following your posts, and purchases, and you have been making some nice choices. Congrats!

+1 Nice choices indeed.

Yeah, sell Speedgunner the Garand he wants 'cause you need the cash to add a few K-frames to your revolver mix!

Hey, Speedgunner are you the kind of guy that would take advantage of my affliction?

That's almost like kicking a guy while he's down.

I have a 5.7 SA (that's right 1 of the 6,000 Springfields in that s/n range) CMP Collector Grade, a 5.3 SA Correct, a 5.9 SA Correct, 5.7 HRA rebuilt at RIA in 1959 (my shooter), and a 5.1 IHC rebuilt-to-new and marked 041 in 1962 (my "one a lifetime" M1 received from DCM in 1982). And, I'm keeping them.

What is it about guys named Jim and K frames? My brother's name is Jim and he's big into K frames, particularly Model 14s and 19s. As for me, I don't care for K frames at all. That makes my brother and I the perfect duo to cruise around gun shows, he doesn't collect S&W pistols or L frames and I don't collect K frames. When it comes to N frames, I prefer stubbies (3") and he likes 4" and 6". Now, we might start fighting like we did when we were kids back in the late 50s and early 60s if the right 5" N frame comes along.

I know the feeling...I collected in a couple of areas during my working years and now that I am retired I have discovered pistols and firearms. It is annoying to have the "want" for a piece on your mind and realize that you could sell this for that...

DD, you, 18DAI, Handgunner356, and Grinder are my heroes. None of you seem to know when to quit...collecting or assisting the rest of us. Keep up the good work! Zebulon
