I can't believe it got to 5 degrees here last night! I live in the Georgia mountains but we have never been this cold! I grew up in northern Indiana/ Michigan and I thought I was used to the cold but the older I get the more I can't stand it. Now I know why all the older people are in Florida.:D

Weatherman from a Columbus, GA station said today we had our coldest weather since 1985 last night/this morning. It was 10 here, about 100 miles south of Hotlanta.;)

We used to have weather like this once every few years.
Once, it got so cold the water in the separator, a glass bowl, froze and busted on a diesel tractor of mine. Funny thing is that the tractor had still been running, even with all the water in the fuel, a few days before.

It is hovering back and forth between 29 and 30 right now. Probably the high for the day.

Frankly, I'm glad to see a real winter again, although 15 or so would have been plenty low.:D

You people have never been married, engaged, or dating then. :D You would know what could really is like!

People think it doesn't get cold below the Mason Dixon line. I moved to Ohio from the mountains in Blairsville GA. My mother still lives there and I can tell you it gets plenty cold there. Not usually 5 degrees cold but they have their share of snow and ice. It's usually only 5-10 degrees warmer there than it is here in Ohio in the winter. If you want to be warm all the time you need to go a lot farther south than the North Georgia mountains.

I lived in the N.E Ga. mountains when the had a "50 yr" snow storm. We were up on top for about 10 days before we could get down. We also had a freeze that saw 35 below chill factor, which is really unheard of there. Old timers said they had never seen the like; Panther Creek, which is a fairly swift trout stream, froze over completely so you could walk across it. I had just washed my face, and went out to get some wood for the stove, and as a turned the corner into the wind where the wood was, I heard this cracklin' sound-turned out be my beard freezin'!!

It was 9 degrees this morning in Perry GA right before sunrise. We were colder here than in central Nebraska where my brother lives. The highs for wed and thurs are gonna feel like a heat wave is coming through town.

I hope everyone is doing well and staying warm through this cold spell.

You must be a "young'n"!?:D
I've seen it below zero a couple of times in the past in North Georgia.

1.7 here this morning.

3 at my home. Bright sunny day and no wind. Took the dog out for a walk. Wasn't all that bad.... for about 15min. :D

I wish I was in Georgia. U live just south of Atlanta but this semi truck had me in Wisconsin all weekend.

I can't remember what positive numbers on the thermometer feel like

Yesterday was the coldest day in Georgia since 1997 according to the weatherman. Brasstown Bald was -29 with the wind chill factor.
