Since I have literally 3.5 tons of lead, a friend asked if I could mold him some .312 bullets for 7.62 x 39mm. I agreed and purchased a Lee mold from Midway. It was backordered and took about 11 days to ship. I got notification on the 28th that the mold was shipping $19.99 + 11.00 shipping. No big deal.

Simply by chance I was poking around Ebay tonight and some opportunist has the same mold listed for $90.00 (used), obviously no one has bid on the thing just yet. But, I suspect there is some paranoid fool that will panic and pay 90.00 +shipping for a mold that retails for 19.99. I'm keeping an eye on the thing for giggles. I'm really curious if there is someone that stupid out there.
 
3.5 tons, holy ****. I hope you don't live in Florida, you would be creating your own sink hole. Wow 3.5 tons.
 
The Federal Bulk Pack .22LR that Walmart was selling for $20 is now going for $40 to $50 on the secondary market.

Someone posted that a set of Lee handgun Dies went for something like $125.00 or there abouts. I looked at one of the online places and they were then in stock for regular price $30.:rolleyes:

Gunners say whatever they want, to whomever they want. They know how to get away with it. Part of it, but by no means all, is the ability to identify a terminal pay grade.

BTW, IWO, in my limited experience, "Gunner" was applied by Marines to all warrant officers, or at least chief warrant officers, in the sixties to eighties.

On-line prices can be ridiculous! I bought two hand tools from an Ebay site for $20.00. Yesterday I saw the same tool at Harbor Freight for $1.50 each. I should know better.
 
You really got to be careful when buying anything on auction sites. I got into a buying mode several years ago and bought a bunch of 1:18 die cast cars on Ebay.
Got some real nice ones but displaying them is taking up too much room so I started pricing them to resell. Most are at about the same price I paid, some are a little cheaper, but a few kinda hit the jackpot.
The good news is I bought a bunch of bulk silver dollars and proof sets, now they are worth quite a bit more.
I wish I had bought more guns!:(
 
I have been hoping to score a deal on a .535 ball mould for my new custom muzzleloader, been looking since I ordered it back in December. Lots of deals on Lee aluminum blocks but I really only like Lyman moulds, just because I like the product that turns out and rarely pour more than one bullet or ball at a time. I just broke down the other day and paid something like $65 for a single cavity .535 Lyman ball mould, thats the price you gotta pay when you want something you don't have. I bought a bunch of moulds from one of the old boys down at the rifle club and really didn't have any idea what kind of a deal I was getting until I started adding up the current prices of some of those moulds. I figure even if I don't use them, somebody should be able to.
Fortunately for us locally there still is quite a smelting operation in the Silver Valley, a byproduct of our local silver mining is lead. Bunker Hill lead is really common around this part of the country, a friend was telling me while cleaning out a garage he ran across 50lbs of lead and asked me if I wanted it, I drove over and picked up another bunch of Bunker Hill ingots. But 3.5 tons...my hats off to you.
 
Ebay is the last place I would ever buy anything it is very rare to find good deals on there anymore. With that said I did buy an otis 5.56 cleaning kit off there thanks to a link given to me by a member on here that turned out to be $30.00 cheaper then where I was going to get it off from Amazon. Other then that I have not bought anything off there for years.

Dude, this one does. I wasn’t born a Marine. I was born a surfer, man;)

My miss-spent youth was atop a Steve Bredesen 6/0 Channel Bottom Islander tri-fin and I smoked so much weed on Pensacola Beach, to this day my hair grows in dread locks and my arterial plaque is almost pure THC resin. In spite of arthritis, I can still roll a single paper joint while driving a three speed column shift ’66 Rambler 770 Classic with all four windows down, one wing open and a bottle of Miller High Life between my legs. Lost my virginity to the Mullet Toss runner-up in the sand behind the FloraBama Lounge, having burned an 1/8th at Johnson Beach Pavillion, imbibing a pint of “Rebel Yell” at Cutty’s and paddling my board up the Intercostal Water Way from the Bob Sikes Bridge to Orange Beach.:D

Needed a break so I enlisted. Turns out the break lasted 30 years. But now I'm BACK!! Yeah I still got the whole Retired Reserves thing but I figure unless tanks are rolling up Pennsylvania Ave I'm pretty much done.
 
Here's the story about the lead. I managed to collect a few hundred pounds over the years but the bulk of it came with the farm we bought. In the barn there were half a dozen scrap fork lifts in various stages of disassembly. While we were cleaning up I noticed that the counter weights were lead and removed it all before calling the scrap steel guys. Just over 6200 lbs
 
Bullet molds and reloading dies are getting caught up in the panic and are out of stock all over.

Ebay can be good or awful, depending on your patience and luck.

I just bought two Lee molds, one I bought on ebay for not too terrible a price (about 25% over retail) and had it in three days. Already used it to cast boolits.

The other I ordered at a really good price from Grafs because it was "in stock" (one of very few) only to learn that Grafs is taking 3-4 weeks to fill orders due to demand. Not backorders, in-stock merchandise.

Ordered it the 6th of last month, finally shipped late last week, and due to be delivered Wednesday, coincidentally the 6th of this month.

And I need another mold, hopefully it will be available and affordable on ebay.

any thing firearms related is like that lately..
i have been looking for a mossberg 46a bolt for several months.. the last one i found in July sold for 40$.. on ebay today is one for 125.00$..

Retired Army CW-3. I would not go back in if tanks were rolling down Pennsylvania Ave. I might however cheer them on. I would come back in to defend the gulf coast and lower half of the east coast. D.C. if they want it, they can have it.

Well, you know...

Lead has a density of 0.39lbs/in3.

A small flat rate USPS box has a volume of 75 in3.

One could ship almost 30 lbs of lead for $5.80. (And sell tickets to the sight of the mail carrier delivering it!)

I'm just saying'...:cool:

I believe you are ready for the Zombie Apocalypse. The name of the game nowadays is that if you put anything related to guns for sale at a ridiculous price, somebody with more money than sense is going to buy it.

Last time I checked opportunist #1 had reduced the starting bid by 50.00 having received nary a bid. Opportunist #2 followed suit and undercut opportunist #1 by 5.00. This ought to be worth a giggle!
