Can't say I haven't heard once of a gift in that league (for another thread), but yours is hard to beat.

The 44 special 6 1/2 in. transitional target was probably the best
gift I have received.

Yes it is a S serial no.
 
I love my Dad. But he sold 3 WWI lugers and two Colt 1917's that belonged to my grandfather because my mom was a little loopy and he didn't want them in the house. . I wish he would have secured them somehow instead. I still have the original receipt for the two 1917's dated August 5th, 1919, the day after he got back to the US. I even have the serial numbers. Your dad has great taste in firearms!
