1) Sunday, wife's car started blowing hot air instead of cold from the passenger side vents. According to the Interwebz, some fixes are quick and others are $$$. Apparently this is an affliction of many makes and models that have dual-zone HVAC systems.

2) Yesterday, a family friend in Texas passed from cancer. Best I can say is that it was a short illness and he was in no pain.

3) This morning I discovered an irrigation valve buried in a paved pathway was leaking pretty good, and likely has been since the weekend. I isolated the entire system and the man is coming to look tomorrow AM.

Working on the "stuff happens in threes", I'm hoping this is it for a while.

Edited to correct an attack of fat fingers, and now the dealer quote.

Dealer called. The plastic mechanism that drives a blend door in the HVAC system has given up the ghost. Most of the dash has to come out. With labor, $3500 plus.:mad::mad: Still, try finding another mid-sized SUV with working A/C for that money.

Of course, we all know why the manufacturers use plastic for these parts. They are cheap, and operate quietly without any need for lube, and they are light in weight. Every ounce counts with the EPA and European mileage mandates.

Wow, LVS, that all sucked lemons! Yesterday I found out I have different exhaust modes that open a bypass damper on each side. It's pretty minimal but it works. ( I just bought an '18 Mustang GT because I wanted it and I was fortunate to be able to buy it!)
Man, I hope your luck turns around! Maybe
I'll give up a little luck, like a prayer only it's not.

The wife's Nissan Rogue AC took a dump a couple weeks ago. Took three trips to the dealer to get it working, although how long it will last is questionable to me. Numerous parts replace, some more than once. All covered under an extended warranty plan. Three trips to the dealership for any repair seems to be the magic number anymore. On a high note, one oil change with Valvoline Restore & Protect oil seems to have had resolved a ticking lifter within the first 100 miles. Good stuff.
