This Years SD Trip

About a month ago I made my 17th annual trip to SD to chase pheasants. This is a picture of my hunting buddies and the grandkids of the family we hunt with. I have watched these kids grow up as they started "hunting" with us when they were 5 or 6 years old. They made good bird dogs and were always nice to me. I took lots of candy to pass out and as they have gotten older I have given 2 of them shotguns. I still have a few more guns to present to them.

Looks like a blast! I lived in South Dakota for 10 years....miss it every fall when hunting season rolls around. Great tradition you have there.

Glad you enjoy your time in SD. Some folks feel only the wind and see only the road as they pass through. I was elsewhere for nearly 30 years and am glad to be back. :) Hunting has surely become a business in the state.

My favorite type of hunting but don't really like the taste of pheasants. I recently been using a recipe on the net, jalapeno poppers and using someone's comment on marinating it in buttermilk overnight. I find it smooths out the taste. I enjoy it now and everyone else seems to want more.

I also save the feathers. I've been wanting to make a feather lei hat band with the blue head feathers.
