Those of you with a Shield do you...

For the YouTube videos, search "Concealed Carry in Action." This will be an eye opener for many people. It's like a car accident or anything else in life. You prepare yourself by believing you will see it coming, but the fact of the matter is that you won't.

In light of this information, I ALWAYS carry my Shield with one in the chamber and safety off. I've done countless draw-from-holster drills and can effectively switch the safety off as I'm drawing at real-world speeds only about 70% of the time. That's completely unacceptable. It all comes down to training and muscle memory, but the safety is so small and so stiff that it truly becomes an obstacle in training. Now add to that the pressure and stress of a real-world incident.

The Shield is plenty safe in the holster without the safety engaged. I don't want to get into a holster debate, but the right holster makes the difference. I use an IWB holster that completely covers the trigger. No worries and I know the weapon will operate when lives are on the line. I'd advise everyone to do what makes them comfortable, but a 30% fail rate in properly disengaging the safety is not acceptable by any standard.

I carry with one in the chamber and safety ON. I have trained that removing weapong from holster also use the thumb for take out to disengage the safety....I think as I get more familiar with this pistol. I will carry with no safety.

Although the Shield does not have a long or heavy trigger pull, I do carry chambered and off safety. I believe the trigger pull is APX. 6.5 pounds from what I have read. Anything over 5 pounds is safe enough for me to carry with safety off.

I carry daily with one in the chamber and safety off and in a good holster. Being a lefty the safety to me is useless and too awkward to train for. I'm completely comfortable carrying that way.

Round chambered, non-left hand friendly safety OFF, & in a proper holster.

I carry with a round in the chamber and safety off. My Pro has no safety, and my holsters cover the entire trigger guard on both pistols, so I practice with both in the same condition.

Same set up as I have. I love the AG holster. Very comfortable. How do you like it. And what grip is that you have on your shield? I have been looking for the right one to put on mine.

Round chambered and safety on for the time being. First firearm for me and the wife. As time goes on that may change. I carry iwb in a kydex holster. Tho I have become consistent with practice draws and sweeping the safety off when drawing.

I absolutely love the AG holster. For the money, it's as good as any other holster I've tried. I've gone through everything, including a crossbreed. Don't get me wrong, they're great, but you can't beat the value and options of the AG.

My grip? Oh, that's just grip tape! Haha. I know it doesn't look the best, but it's absolutely comfortable, it gives the grip just the right amount of extra girth I needed, and it has steadied my shot indefinitely. It's the same grip used for tennis rackets; Wilson Ultra Wrap to be exact. You can find it for one dollar. I know there are very good grip kits out there, but I personally needed a little extra width on the grip to keep me from pulling left on trigger pull. The kits I found didn't add any girth, so it wasn't what I was looking for. This did the trick. For as simple as it is, I actually get compliments all the time from my friends who use the gun. I guess keeping it simple goes a long way.

Something else to consider with the safety on is if you are ever wearing gloves. I don't know about you, but it gets cold here. Can you draw and effectively disengage the safety with gloves on? I can't and I have extensive trigger time with multiple weapons. Just something else to consider.

I may have to give that a try. I'm looking for a little more girth as well. Like you said, keeping it simple might be the way to go.

I train with a chambered round and the safety off. Therefore, I carry the same way. As others have said, do what you are comfortable with or better yet how you train.

Try it! You have nothing to lose. I simply wrapped the gun and cut it to fit. I used a small dab of glue where the wrap ended so it didn't start to unravel. Works great. Best buck I've spent.

one in the tube, safety on, won't buy an MP without a safety, but I grew up with 1911s and BHPs, find myself sometimes flipping the non existing safety on Glocks LOL
