Just thought is throw this out there since the shield is fresh on everyone's mind. I'm by no means a Springfield fan, I don't like their appearance at all, plus they r expensive. But they are supposedly fine weapons.
And this being a .45, in roughly the same size as the shield is impressive.
Specs for the XD-S 45mm Compact Pistol | Springfield Armory USA
Comparison:
Length: xds 6.3 - shield 6.1
Height: xds 4.4 - shield 4.6
Weight: xds 21.5 - shield 19
Width: xds 1in. - shield .95in.
Barrel: xds 3.3 - shield 3.1
Capacity: xds 5+1 .45acp - shield 6+1, 7+1 .40; 7+1, 8+1 9mm.

Both are polymer framed, stainless slides, with melonite coatings.
Both are striker fired.

I'm just impressed that someone could make a single stack .45 acp almost exactly the same size the shield. Smith otta make a .45 acp shield.

Kahr makes the p45 which is roughly the same size, but expensive too.
Length: 6.07
Height:4.8
Width:1.01
Weight: 20.5
Barrel: 3.54
Capacity: 6+1 .45acp
Polymer frame, stainless slide....

Seems like s&w could and should make a single stack .45 this size, it can be done obviously....
What you all think?

Personally, 6+1 of 45ACP (namely, my CS45) is as small as I'd want to go. If we're talking about 5+1, I'm thinking about a revolver. Just my way of thinking.

I agree, if you can't get atleast 5+1 in a semi auto, might as well go with a revolver. BUT its usually a lot quicker to change magazines in a semi, than to reload a revolver.

I'm a big fan of auto pistols vs revolvers. This will be easier to conceal and faster to reload. Not to mention, its 45 acp. They will also be coming out with 9/40 versions as well.

They have peaked my interest. I'm buy one and carry it.

I handled one at the NRA convention and was impressed how well it fit my hand, the thing is comfortable. I have a feeling it will perform as good as it feels and I look forward to trying one. Nothing wrong with a 6 shot 45 that conceals easily.

Hopefully I'll be impressed when I'm able to see and hold one. Thanks for the photos mag318.

Not made in America…Lets keep the jobs at home. You cant say, MADE IN THE USA, for the Glock either! Sure they are nice weapons, but you can get American made weapons that are the equal or better than the imports. Sure I like my Walthers, but that was a long time ago and we were not living in a nation in the shape we are in now!
