I would like opinions on this trade.

I have, a dead mint model 66-2 ,2.5 inch barrel, no box, just the gun.

He has, a like new in box model 29-10 4 " barrel.

Thoughts?

I saw a similar condition 66-2 2.5" close on GB a week ago for $900, gun only. I though it might reach a $1000 and may have with a weekend closing. With 66 2.5" there is no telling

No on the trade to me, even though the values may be close...perhaps save up for a 4" model 29 and keep the 66? The 29-10 is a current model and will probably be available new for a while.

The BIG question, is what do you want to do? Everybody has their reasons for yes or no. Are they same as yours? I personally don't carry, and normally shoot 4" + at the range. The 66 would be harder to replace! SO, you can see that the tough decision is YOURS! Do let us know how you make out! Bob

Great thread! Many good opinions here. Poster bananaman is a savvy hombre. What do YOU want to do? For me, a snub K-frame is more useful than a 4" N-frame, nice that the .44 is. Have to be a big pocket, but the 66 can go in that pocket. And that the snub is MINT! Whoa. Ammo availability may also come into play here. Factory .38/.357 is more available and less expensive than .44 Spl and Mag.

Don't leap too quickly here. I think you already know what my decision would be, after due consideration. Question is, is it yours?
