Threading a M&P 15/22

Hello
I have a new M&P 15/22. The model I purchased has a 16" barrel. It is not threaded for flash hider. I purchased an A2 flash hider, but I thought I better ask if this barrel can be cut before seeking a gun smith to cut threads. Any advice and thanks.

It can be done, but financially you would be better off selling it and buying one already equipped.

I seen the threaded end but I wasn't sure of the reliability and extra weight. I have heard it could be threaded for around $50.00, but I haven't called to ask yet.
