I have my eye on a few S&W revolvers and need some advice on whether or not I should jump on these.

Model 60-4 with 3" bbl (.38 spl.) and adj. sights, old style hammer pin in 95-98% condition for $400.

Model 617-6 with 6" bbl (10 shot .22lr) and the new internal lock in 95-98% condition for $525.

Model 586 blued with 6" bbl (.357 mag). SN: ABD91xx in 95-90% condition for $600.

Are any of these worth jumping on or are they way over priced? I'm espeically interested in the 617 just because I think I would use it the most. Please let me know what you think.

Those prices are pretty much in line with what I would expect to pay around here. I picked up a model 17 last Summer for $500.00 and that quickly became the one that gets shot the most.

As 'shooters' and not 'adding to my collection for resale' I would jump on the first two. The 586 is dirt common and seems to me to be a little over priced. YMMV .............. Big Cholla

The Mod 60-4 and 617 seem to be good prices, if it were me I would go after those.
I purchased a 586 recently for around 450 which I thought was a good price and I see them on occasion for $450-550.

I agree that the 586 is priced a bit high. You can find them for less if you are patient.

Good Luck,

Jerry

Dude , very few of the model 60 targets made. Ultra cool gun. If you'd seen it I would be surprised you didn't realize this. $400 is a very good price. Now ,, go get it.

The 586 is a little high, the 617 is ok but its got the internal lock, but around here that 60-4 is a sweet deal for that price. I'd go for the 60-4

Any target variation of the Chief's Special with adjustable rear sights, whether blued or stainless, is fairly rare. I think the 3" , non-Airweight Chiefs are fun to shoot on their own. Getting one with the adjust. sights is icing on the cake. Think 60!

I will fall in line and say it also

Get the model 60. That piece would go for around $600 in my area. Congrats on the treasure hunt!
