Well, after the third deal in a row fell through trying to acquire period correct Targets for my 1956 "357 Magnum" I gave up and put on an incorrect but pretty set of "football" style stocks.

So there...

In the mean time, open up your grip drawer & slap on a set o' Cokes, & be happy.

I won't tell if you don't.

Looks very nice.

$300? For a $175 set of stocks? Don't want them that badly.

No, $300 for a $50 set of stocks. C’mon, it’s not like wood is a rare material and any competent stock company ought to be able to churn out perfect reproductions. What’s stopping them? Not enough market would be my guess.

$175 would barely buy a really nice set of K frame non relieved targets....a nice set of Non Relieved N's just sold on there for a litte over $250 I believe

Hey it looks good to me! I have found that the harder I look for a thing the harder it is to find. Then when you quit looking it will turn up in a bit or if you pay top dollar price plus then you will find two or three at half the cost the next day! Hang in there a set will come your way in due time especially around here.

If they are selling for that much then I don't need them. Hell, I paid $225 for a set of K frame ivory stocks 2 years ago. I have 2 sets of non-relieved K frame Targets in my box of stocks because I have no immediate use for them. I guess I will now sell them and put $500 in my pocket.

I only wanted the old stocks because they would look right on the 1956 gun. Fact is that without the relief they don't work as well as the later style. I won't pay an arm and a leg for something that doesn't work as well just to make it look right.

Thanks for slapping me back to reality.

BTW- I have about half a dozen sets of Python stocks in the box. Are they bringing over $25 now? That's what I paid for them. Well, some were $15.

....I know prices are headed upUpUP.....but you folks are talking more $$$ than I paid for my last 3 S&W REVOLVERS!!!!!....ok...OK...it HAS been a while since then....

Saxonpig, Put a set of your Python Stocks on ebay or sell them on the Colt Forum. You can then roll that money into any set of S&W stocks short of cokes and have some money left over. Think of it as a trade.

Put the magnas on it and be happy. Least it would look right.

Of course: do what you like. Those footballs look like Prewar magnas on my Pre Model 14 K-38 inverted in a time machine.

The gun came with the original numbered Magnas. But on a barrel that long I think the Targets look and feel better.

I paid $250 and some change for a nice 3 1/2" pre 27 box a couple of weeks ago. I just sold some holsters and other stuff I wasn't using to fund them.

Pretty sure you can't take it with you.

Emory :)

Agree with you

I have the exact same revolver (except it was shipped in 1957) with the original numbered Magnas. I have always thought it would look a little more balanced with the Targets.

Hey - you finally got that 6-1/2" .357 you always wanted. Congratulations! I agree with you on the stocks. Use what you have, be patient, and keep your eyes open. Something will come along sooner or later.
