Through the Years 1956

This thread has produced a very nice showing of 1956 vintage S&W craftsmanship.
I will add my Chiefs Special 'Model of 1953'. It is a high polish blue example that came complete with the original box and sales receipt (dated April, 1956). I find the box a bit interesting as well because it has no exterior graphics and is a brownish coloration.
Thanks to Forum member Chris Surprenant, it is now in my stable.

I can't begin to compete with RKmesa's engraved 1956ers or SigKev's 4 inch engraved first year 44 Magnum, but here's a plain jane 4 inch 44 Magnum that shipped to Morrow-Thompson Hardware, Amarillo, TX, no Nov. 13, 1956.

Looks great on one side. The other side, not so much. May have been dragged behind a truck. Shoots well.

As far as I know, this is my only 1956 vintage gun. It is my 5 screw first year .44 magnum with a 6.5" barrel. It was sold to the Jordan Howe Company, 670 Main St., Willimantic, CT. on December 18, 1956 in an order of three. It came with the original dark blue smooth Presentation Case, the nice Coke grips, a cleaning rod, the correct SAT, MOP, and a brush like many do. I have a Helpful Hints brochure and a Warranty Card (not the half to be sent in). Not sure if the brochure came with it originally. It is in great condition, and I was lucky enough to have Doc44 (thanks again) advise me on its purchase. I had always wanted a first year .44 magnum to go with my 4 screw 1958 one. I don't know much about the purchasing company, but I did find this illustration from 1909.

Thanks for posting all the pictures. I really enjoyed looking at all these old beauties. I get to call them old because I'm the same age, born in 1956. Still looking for my first birth year gun.
