Thumb rest opinions

I'm considering putting a thumb rest on my M&P 9 and curious what style people use and if they liked them or not. I basically just target shoot for fun, not compete.

I was considering this one because it's cheap, easy to install, and easy to remove if I don't like it.

It looks like something to try out for little cost. Since it's easily added and removed, why not? Give it a shot and let us know how it works.

Looks like its would be worth the gamble keep us posted. the only thing I can see is it looks like it could possibly interfere with racking the slide. For EDC it might not work either but you said you just punch paper with it so give it a whirl.

Doesn't look like it would be effective(IMO). The thumb rest should be for your support hand, that looks like it's for the dominant hand (assuming a right handed shooter) I use one all the time (just not on a M&P) But you won't know until you try it, that's the though process that made me have drawers full of unused pistol "do dads".

I held it on the gun and I'm skeptical, but I'll give it a try. Is that an STI? My next purchase is probably gonna be an STI Costa Carry Comp. haven't decided on 9 or 45 tho.

It is an STI, I changed from a M&P Open 9 major to an STI because I kept cracking the slide on the M&P, I never shot with a thumb rest on that one (that's not entirely true, the 90 degree mount worked as a "sort of" thumbrest .)

It's a gimmick. Designed to separate you from your money. It would be more useful to add a thumb safety and use that as your thumb rest.
