In the last couple weeks, I keep getting "timed out" constantly on this site. Very annoying. Will be reading a post or trying to open up another thread and all of a sudden: "this site has timed out."

Sometimes I can't get back on the site for long periods of time.

Am I the only person with this going on?

What causes this? Don't remember this happening in the past.

Thanks in advance, Bo in NC

I wonder if it's on your end. I've never had the problem.

In my experience it's usually an ad that causes something like that. That's why I use Ad Blocker Plus.

The only disadvantage is that there are increasing numbers of sites that will block access to their content if you are using it.

When it happens to me I have usually lost connectivity between my wifi/modem and the Internet.

It seems to happen after a period of inactivity of about fifteen minutes.

I've never had the site time out as long as I was actively using it...logged in, reading it, posting on it, clicking on different threads and stuff. But if you just let it sit (don't know the time frame), it will time out and you'll have to log in again.

I would say it's on your end. I recently had internet issues. My usual download speed is around 60 MBPS with upload around 5MBPS. The speed had dropped significantly with almost no upload speed. This caused the same problem you experienced with almost all the sites I visited. It also affected my VOIP phone service. Ended up being a service problem with their head-in. Once they corrected the problem everything was back to normal.

You can run a speed test by going to Ookla.com and running the simple test. It will show the speed you're getting and you can compare that with what you're paying for.

You also may not get the speed at 100% when the internet load is heavy or you're a ways away from your modem and router.
