I ran into my 90 year old aunt Wednesday. She's the last one I have. She was married to my uncle (Dad's brother) who passed away in 1982. For the last 30 years she had been telling me she had some old guns she wanted to get rid of. I went to her house about 10 years ago when she gave me thousands of rounds of different kinds of ammo. Wednesday she told me to come see her. I was on the way to a funeral and told her I'd come by when it was over.

She has two houses and is wanting to sell one of them. I met her at what I'll call house number one after the funeral. Here is what she had there: Two S&W 25-3 125th year commemorative in wood box with Jinks book. Texas Ranger Comm Model 19 in wrong box. Model 10 with pinned bull barrel and diamond grips numbered to the gun. A junky Arminius 38 snub. And a Complete Dan Wesson with three barrels in the briefcase style package. I took these with me at the time. She wanted to meet at house number two on Thursday which we did.

At house number two I found the correct box for the Texas Ranger 19 with the Blackie Collins knife with the same serial number as the gun. There was also another complete Dan Wesson with an extra 10" barrel and a 1.3 power scope. That was it for the handguns.

I also brought home a lot of long guns. They are: NIB S&W 1000 12 ga. 30" full choke, NIB S&W 1000 12 ga. 26" imp cyl, Two NIB S&W 1000 20 ga. with consecutive serial numbers. All these shotguns have really nice wood, engrave receivers, and vent rib barrels. I just made a thread about these in the long gun section. Three Browning 12 ga. doubles with different barrel lengths and chokes. One Stevens 12 ga double that needs a new trigger guard. One NIB Remington 870 shotgun in 28 ga. One Remington 760 pump rifle I think in 270. Some kind of English rifle in 243.

Apparently at one time she had the four knife Blackie Collins Knife collection. Two of the knives are missing. All that remains are two knives, four walnut boxes, and two blue cardboard boxes with metal corners. The walnut boxes are in good shape except somebody pried the lock off of one of them. The lock is still there and can be repaired. There was also a Daisy BB gun that may or may not work.

It's going to take a little while to research some of this stuff and eventually most of it will be for sale. Right now the two 25-3's are on a gun auction. If they don't sell there they will come here. I'm going to try and sell the S&W shotguns here once I find out what they're worth. The 19 Texas Ranger is sold, and she gave me the bull barrel 10 with a border patrol style holster which is now a new heirloom. I'm going to put a carry rig together. My son is going to try and buy the Remington 28 ga. I might buy the Stevens double and I've had a couple of inquiries on the three Browning doubles but I don't know what they're worth yet.

This is my only remaining aunt from my parents generation. I will be trying to get her the best prices I can while still being fair to the buyers. Most of this stuff isn't for sale yet but hopefully I can get things together in the next few days.

I had a neighbor who hunted deer, bear, turkey, but his heart was in turkey hunting, as is mine. he told me he had 30 drillings at one time, but was down to 8. He died 2 yrs ago, his widow called and said she had something that her husband would have wanted me to have. So I swell up with pride and anticipation, go over to the house, and she presented me with "How to Cook Wild Turkey". I used that book last spring.

Good luck to the OP. I do wish I could help you out by taking some of that off your hands but unfortunately I'm at the "Thinning the herd" time in my gun life. I am sure you won't have any trouble finding new homes for all of those fine old S & Ws

The "English rifle in 243" sounds interesting.;)

It looks like a very well made rifle. Still haven't gotten around to research this one. It looks like a Mauser action, has a Bushnell scope, sporter stock, and has Firearms Company Alpine and some British proof marks engraved on the barrel.

Good for you. I have one aunt and one uncle remaining. Both are in their 90's, they are brother and sister and both are WWII vets. He a combat medic, drove his weapons carrier onto Omaha beach on June 7th with three doctors in it. She a Marine corporal stationed at Camp Elliott outside of San Diego.

Hope they hang around for awhile yet.
