My long-deceased father in law was one whose records were destroyed in the St. Louis fire. Fortunately, his discharge papers were recorded and on file at the Erie County courthouse in Buffalo NY. We got them at no cost whatsoever.

I discovered I didn't have an original so I faxed for a certified copy and had it in 2 weeks.
