I am not, nor have i ever been, one to be a good speaker
or writer. But i felt the need to share with my friends on
here who are current or former LEO's. I have the utmost
respect for you all. These folks put their lives on the line
every single day they go to work.
Back in the late 60's /early 1970's Greg Meagher was my Best Friend.
My Dad had just got stationed at USMC Air base in Beauford,
S.C. When you are a Marine kid you move a lot....:p:p
Greg and I became friends immediately after a fight on the playground and we were inseparable from that day on.
His family was a large Irish Catholic family of 8 and ours a smaller family of 5 who were Methodist. We lived two blocks away
on base housing (enlisted). Our families were close.
Greg and I were pumped once Summer break came.
Fishing, Hunting squirrels and rabbits, going Crabbing.
Playing football, baseball, or just running night Ops around
the base at night trying not to get caught by the MP's.
Every day was an adventure and every day fun.

Greg Meagher was a Sergeant in the Richmond Co.
Sheriffs Department ( Augusta, Georgia).
The father of 4 beautiful Girls.

There can be no Greater Love than sacrificing yourself to help another.

Greg Meagher was a Mountain of a Man.
Not just in physical size but in Heart as well.
I will miss my childhood friend.
He rests in Gods arms now.

Greg Meagher EOW 2/5/17....
Details are here:
Sergeant Greg Meagher, Richmond County Sheriff's Office, Georgia

Here is a picture of Greg's Grandfather. This is Walter Crockett
The first provost Marshall in Japan post WWII

Prayers for the family.

our condolences to his loved ones, friends & brothers/sisters in arms.... Looks like one heck of a guy... I'll wager he was the first to join in searching a building or alley for a perp who was hiding out...

He went into a business on an Emergency call.
A woman who worked there was overcome and
Greg went in to pull her to safety when he himself was overcome.
Liquid Nitrogen spill. They both perished.
RIP Buddy. Love ya'

God bless and comfort You and all of Greg's family and friends sorry for your loss.

Prayers asking for strength for family and friends of a brave man gone too soon.

The Lord has an admirable helper watching over flock.

I'm sorry for your loss, his family's loss, the loss to his LE family and the loss to America and the way of life that he helped protect. Your words painted a picture of a man who lived his life honorably, served a greater cause and would willingly do it all again.

Chud, I'm saddened to hear of the loss of your friend.

My prayers go out asking for God to give strength and comfort to the family and friends of Sergeant Meagher.

Man, that is so sad. In the manner of a true hero, he ran towards the danger, not away from it. I believe just like there are special places in hell for certain types of individuals, there are also special places in heaven for people like him. Right next to the throne of God.
