I got a ticket coming home from Cincinnati in Crisp County GA. on September 7th.

I asked the officer how much it would be and he said call the number on the back of the ticket. I did, and it said to wait 10 business days.

It's been close to a month. I've called the number on the back of the ticket, and finally got to a lady that told me to keep trying. So far I've called 3 different numbers to put my info in, and they all say citation not found.

There's a web site called ezcourtpay.com. I've tried that numerous times. No citation found.

One problem I told the girl I talked to was the officer put my DOB on the ticket as 09/02/2036. She said to use that DOB when trying to pay it. I've used that and my real DOB and still...no citation found.

I made a copy of the ticket, and wrote a letter to the address on the back explaining everything. Said in the letter if I ever got pulled over in GA. again I sure don't want a warrant on my for a unpaid ticket. If I don't hear back from them, I'm not sure what to do.

They can't issue a warrant for a citation that is not in the system. Wait another couple of months and try again. If it still is "not found" then don't worry about it.

Through the "Inter-state Compact", if that citation does show up it will also show in your home states driver license records and will be found for both insurance and prior violation purposes. You should check with your states driver license division because of this. This assumes GA and OH are both members of the Interstate Compact, many states are.

This MAY be the problem. You may have been ticked inside Arabi city limits. I-75 runs through part of it.

Long shot, but read the following...

If you were issued a citation by the Crisp County Sheriff's Office or the Georgia State Patrol inside the City of Arabi, you may contact the City of Arabi Court for more information about your citation:

Was the area of violation or court anywhere near the hurricane affected area? Other things may have become a priority. Don't just ignore the citation, as mentioned above, the Interstate Violator Compact CAN result in your home state drivers license being suspended.
Contact the issuing officers agency and ask to speak with a supervisor. DO NOT just ignore it and hope for the best. BAD things can happen to your license and as a result your insurance. Better to head off a problem rather than try to straighten it out afterwards. Believe me, you do not want to deal with the Bureau of Motor Vehicles, it is the 10th circle of Dante's Hell. I used to deal with the BMV as a profession and I believe they could make the Pope question his religious beliefs.

Just tried that.

Record(s) not found. Please refine your search and try again.

I'm gonna try the Clerk of Courts, and Crisp County Sheriffs Office tomorrow.

I have till November to pay it. I'm getting a spot worried.

All these little fiefdoms in the US are just not worth it when it comes to situations like this.

These things have a way of coming back to haunt us. Get it resolved, do it in writing, certified mail with return receipt as proof of delivery. Do everything possible to demonstrate your good faith efforts in compliance.

It might also be good to keep your lawyer's number on speed-dial and carry bail bond money, especially if your will be in Georgia in the future.

I'd also document (date, time, phone number called, and the response) all your attempts to pay. Keep trying, and maybe try the registered letter signature required route. That way the is official government documentation of your attempt. If there is a notary around it might be worth notarizing the letter as well.

That way, if in the future bad things happen, you have a string of legal documents that show you were acting in good faith.

BTW, I am NOT a lawyer, this route just kinda makes sense to me.

I've seen enough of instances on the show OnPatrolLive where an outstanding warrant can come back to haunt you. You get stopped for an infraction, they run you DL, a warrant pops up.
It may be in the same jurisdiction or the county over. Sometimes they don't know what it's for, or maybe it was cleared up but just wasn't taken out of the system for one reason or the other. You would be "detained" until they figure all this out.
I was never in LE but being a fan of OnPatrolLive have seen this many times. I would, as some said, get as much proof as you can either way.

I thought you were older than that. My old attorney would say the ticket was defective on it's face and therefore not valid. Some one in the system probably noticed that and put it in the round file. I would stop being Mr. Solid Citizen and stop trying to contact the powers that be. If they really want to levy a fine they will do it.

This legal advice is worth exactly what you paid for it.

From the dash cam video, the exit signs said Farmers Market Road and then Cordele/Hawkinsville which would put you north of Cordele. Arabi is south.

I called the Crisp County Sheriff's office. That looks to be one of their units. The lady I spoke with said the ticket would go straight from the sheriff's office to probate court.

Probate Court: 229-271-4731
Sheriff's Office: 229-276-2600

Give the probate court a call. She also said the birth date being incorrect should not affect things.

Hope this helps.

If not, send me a bunch of benjamins and I'll handle it for you. ;) You can call me the 'coastal plains counsel'. :D:D

I double checked something else for you. Crisp County SD has white units, Dooly County S/D (the direction you were coming from) has black units. You were ticketed by Crisp County Sheriff's Department.

What agency wrote the ticket? It will either be state police or the local sheriff When you inquire about the ticket always reference the ticket number. The ticket should have the court in which it will be heard displayed somewhere. Deal with THAT court. If you can't tell the officers name from the signature use his badge number.
I can tell you that you NEED to follow up on this as it will eventually get into the system, work it's way to the license bureau and you will have a suspended drivers license to deal with in addition to a warrant for non appearance. I can tell you from experience you do not want to be pulled over in Bumfuk Texas on a Saturday only to find out that there is a warrant out of Georgia and you are driving on a suspended DL as it will absolutely ruin your weekend until Monday. You got time-but stay on it.
We don't want anything out of you except da money-;)
Call and speak to a person!
Good luck
Gary

Just read 444 magnum's post-good advice.
