To shoot, or not to shoot. That is the question!

So I was looking for a woods gun but ran across this beauty and couldn't resist. It was a bit more than I intended to spend but damn it's sure pretty!

It goes against all my beliefs to own a gun and not shoot it but I'd be a liar if I said I wasn't conflicted by this one. Should I shoot it or just admire it for awhile? Honestly, I'm more inclined to hit the range with it and just take good care of it.

Here it is, bought as an unfired, with original box, 1987 production Smith Wesson 29-3 Classic Hunter .44 Magnum. What would you do?

DANG that is nice. There;s one in a local shop here that's a bit more of a shooter. IIRC they are asking around $800 for it. What does a NIB one like that go for?

You gotta go shoot that puppy !!! I would.

Is that front sight original? If not, shoot it. The "collector " value is diminished.

I've seen a number of those for sale around the auction sites.

It's a waste of money not to shoot it - and frequently, too. NIB is nice to look at, but well used and well cared for makes for a much nicer looking gun. They give off a certain warm glow that can't be faked.

How do you know it wasn't already shot? It has a turn line and it was at the very least shot at the factory. Do you really see that as being a collectors item without keeping it for a very long time? You bought it to shoot . . . Shoot it!

Shoot it. Any potential value lost, is made up by the enjoyment of shooting it.

I agree with the majority; shoot it!

I'd also put some wood grips on it even though the rubbers are original to the model. Blued revolvers with wood grips go together like beer and chicken wings.

NO DON'T SHOOT IT...give it to me and I'll shoot it. LOL I've seen a lot of guns that are without question show guns and I'd never buy one because I'd want to shoot it. I have a Freedom Arms 454 Casull, the official State of Wyoming gun that is a thing of beauty and three thousand bucks worth of custom gun...right to the range with it.
