Rough morning. My truck started reluctantly, reminding me that it is now 6-1/2 years old and 100F-plus temperatures are hard on old batteries. Drove directly to the AutoZone store, but their test equipment was not functioning. So I drove to a nearby competitor, battery tested bad but they had no replacement in stock.

Truck refused to start. Next step, call the mobile service guy for a jump. $55 later and back to AutoZone for a new battery. Top of the line AGM technology, only $255 plus tax.

Back on the road by 1:30PM. I've been enjoying International Beer day since then.

Waiting for a service truck while the thermometer is topping 103F is when you really start appreciating a cold beer.

Was not aware of the significance of this day when I brought my first six-pack of Yeungling Light in a month this afternoon, and had one with my supper. I usually don't drink much during the week, but will have one on Friday and Saturday night. So I guess I honored the "holiday". I did notice some 28 bottle cases of Sam Adams Oktoberfest on the shelves at Costco today. I consider it my "official" beer of football season, so still a little early to be buying it.

I must confess that , while my intention was to get some Lite beer as I said in my earlier post, I remembered that it was International beer day. Couple that with Pacifico being on sale, and I'm enjoying a cerveza frio as I type. It's 87 degrees in the house, so it's going down like water and leaving as sweat. No running to the bathroom. Just like in Mexico. Buenas noches mi amigos!

"Head"? I haven't heard or used that term since my folks sold our boat around 1968 Guess I'd better head to the galley and pull a beer before the evening's out.

(Had to look up "STCM" as I'm not familiar with US military acronyms.)

Master Chief Sonar Tech.
The head in the Navy is what lander Lubbers call latrine
