Happy Swiss National Day, Swissman!

My maternal great grandfather left Switzerland in the late 19th century at age 17, and emmigrated to the US. The story in my family was that land was limited in Switzerland, and he learned that he could get land for free in America if he worked the land. He built a farm in Kansas, married, and had four sons. When he died, he left each son a house, and a farm of 160 acres. :)

Love the photo Swissman, that is a nice collection of martial firearms.

You guys are among the few lucky folks left in the world. The bad guys are out to get is all.

Looks like if necessary, you could hold them off?

1874Optional Referendumis introduced. 30,000 (today 50'000) citizens may demand for a referendum on any law passed by the parliament. This is the key element of Switzerland's unique system of Direct Democracy.

You Constitution scholars, what is the parallel here in the U.S. - if any?

Happy National Day to Swissman and entire Swissfamily. :)
