Today was positive and I've got some real world towing data for you.

I like the ability to measure tongue weight with more than a SWAG. I see your trailer has surge brakes, haven't seen those in a while, I had them on my last boat trailer. Mine were a pain to maintain, and I've used electrics ever since, although I don't own a boat any more.

I measured my tongue weight the old fashioned way. I drove to the transfer station and weighted the tongue (with wheel down disconnected from Blue). It came in at 400#. Then I pulled the whole boat onto the scale. The whole package with half a tank of gas was 3800#. Figure that fully loaded with gear, full tank and ice chests another 1200 tops.
The 13 foot whaler....a lot less!
Sometimes the old ways are the best...but I STILL want one of those bad boys :D

Caj's weighing systems works, but the truck scales are a bit above that. You get front axle, rear axle(s) and trailer axle(s) weight. That way you know not only the tongue weight, but if the front end has suddenly become lighter. Really good way to set up a weight distributing hitch too. You can see weight leave the rear axle and go forward again.
