I’ve been fascinated by Tol Dawson holsters for years. I should say the idea of as the only one I’ve seen in the wild was at Joaquin Jackson’s estate auction back in 2016. Unfortunately, a fair bit of Midland oil money was there, so I went home without it.

Anyone have any of his vintage holsters and not mind sharing some pictures? Thank you.

Here's one, sorry I don't still have the backside image, which showed his unusual logo that included an outline of the State of Texas. It w/b mighty difficult to distinguish his holsters from the better-known TX makers such as Bedell Rogers and even Sam Myres.

For example, which maker is the one on this Texas Ranger? I sure dunno.

I had a chance to see Joaquins leather up close. He was helping me bring back a couple of escaped thugs, from Mexico. Down to earth guy once you for to know him.

A few photos that I’ve saved over the years.

The pancake style would be from late in his career as it was invented/patented circa 1970 and every holster maker jumped on board immediately. Even Dawson's contemporary TX competitor Oliver Ball had one and it is featured in Holstory the Book. The only such Ball I've seen.
