Tom passed away at 73 from Covid complications.

As most of you know, he was born without toes on his right foot and fingers on his right hand. Despite that he had 11 very successful seasons in the NFL. He was a kind man that did a lot for the disabled community.

I had his SI cutout picture on my wall in 1970 after he kicked the 63 yard field goal against the Lions at Tulane Stadium.

I had read the other day that he was in intensive care with Covid 19. The article also said he was also battling with dementia and Alzheimer's disease. I actually watched the game where he kicked the 63 yard field goal. It was the last play of the game against the Detroit Lions. It was about the only bright spot of that season too.

Godspeed Tom Dempsey.
