Tom Selleck's best Roles.....

While I enjoyed most Magnum PI episodes the one I thought was the best was the season 3 opener "Did You See The Sun Rise". At the time is was shocking to see the hero shoot an unarmed man.

Thats my absolute most favorite episode(of many) from the series. I dint know it was a season 3 ep but im collecting the series--having up to season 2 sofar.

I love the Jessie Stone series but something bothers me about it and am wondering if anyone else notices. He never pets that dog. If that were my dog I'd be petting the hair off of him. That bothers me somehow, his indifference to his dog.

One thing I like is he always winds up in bed with an attractive female.

He learned to hate dogs thanks to having 8 years of Zeus and Apollo chasing him in Hawaii.:D

There is a back story to the dog thing...

I'm a huge fan of the "Jesse Stone" books. Selleck made the character his own (in the books he's much younger) and I have enjoyed the tv films as much. The back story on the dog is very good, I think he's kind of Jesse's conscience.

As for the other characters I think Quigley is my favorite though I've always enjoyed his acting-time to ratchet back on the hair dye though lol (his character on Blue Bloods has darker hair than when he played Magnum!).

I've liked him in most everything I've seen. I'll have to look for monte Walsh.

I was thinking about that movie after this thread cranked up.
I think I have it somewhere on an old VHS tape, but the quality
on those is pretty lacking. So last night I bought a widescreen
DVD version off fleabay. I would have bought a blu-ray version,
but didn't see any. But at least the widescreen with decent quality
SD video DVD will be a lot better than the old funky tape I had.
The total for a new DVD on fleabay ran me $6.75 including ship,
so pretty cheap. I saw lots of them on there, some new, some used.
It's a pretty good flick.

This thread is useless without pics. As an investigator, I always admired his "style" in Magnum PI.

Tom has proved himself as a fine actor in many different films. When he played Ike I thought he reached the peak. Like was said before he didn't look like Ike but carried the burden of D Day perfectly. Moving from TV to movies have sunk a lot of careers.Personally, I think his western movies are the best. Besides he's on the NRA Exeutive Board. That means he's on our side.

Quigley is in a catagory by itself.

I liked Magnum PI well enough when it was new but it didn't age well.

I've read most , if not all the Jesse Stone books , but never seen any of the movies. I'm confused by all the 1911 references thereof , since in the books he carried a .38 .

And of course hats off to Tom Selleck in real life for his service with the NRA and 2A support.

Stone movies are good. In the books, it is a 36 but in the movies he has a 1911 which I think is carried in a Yaqui slide.
