National Geographic is airing a new series, "Doomsday Preppers" tonight. Useful info or a bunch of tin foil hats? We'll see.

The episode I just TIVO'd is called "Bullets...........Lots of Bullets!"

For a guy who hates watching TV, I think I might like this one!

Then again, I've been wrong before. The hype rarely matches the hope.

It wasn't a bad show. Some of the "preppers" were a little over the top, but it had some good info that makes you think.

I need to do better than a 12 pack of Diet Coke and a Snickers bar for my Doomsday food plan! :)

I did find it interesting that there was a group who thought firearms were not needed. All they needed was thier neighbors as a support group.

I agree - they seemed like very nice, kind, and intelligent people, but obviously very naive with regards to what would happen to "regular" people when law and order goes on the blink. Look at what happened in New Orleans when Hurricane Katrina hit. There are a number of documented incidents of well prepared people who couldn't use their supplies because of roving gangs of looters. People who owned firearms, and had the willingness to use them to protect and defend their homes and themselves won the day. I am amazed at people who don't look to the past and learn from the mistakes of others.

Best of luck,

Dave

I suspect the survival plan of a number of people depend on locating groups like this.

I was surprised, it didn't turn into the usual hit piece on those raving lunatic gun owners.
Even more surprised that the suggestions to all the pacifist was to arm themselves.
It has potential.

I'm not into the SHTF BS, but this guy spent a year in Servia when the poop really hit the fan, he talks about real survival. Scary.

You may have to give your e-mail address to get the story, but its well worth reading. Nothing else it will make you feel all warm, fuzzy and thankful for living in the good ol USA.

I didn't see it but I really feel no obligation to defend the clueless, or the anti's.

Be watching it tonight - Tivo. Don't knock it - you can always learn something and it may save you and your family.

When bad thing come about whether it be emp, hurricane, flood, or whatever too late will be too bad. I find myself looking to prepare for whatever happens even if it is just a break down on the road. I have several prepper friendsm, many I didn't know were preppers. The way I look at it you can prepare and be wrong or not and be dead. All it takes is a few hundred dollars and some research. Really crazy friend with gunshelps also. Doeboy
