That's what I'm doing today too.. I'm Currently waiting on my second coat to dry.. :)

I think yours turned out nice! And if you decide you don't like it, you're just some non-acetone nail polish remover and a scrub away from getting it back to stock.

no I didn't remove the black from the barrel... I think its just the light... I do like the fact it makes the pistol stand out more... I just ordered a Flat dark earth back strap for it.. I recently just added the apex trigger and im going to be ordering a stainless storm lake barrel for it in a couple of weeks... the gun is crazy accurate already with the stock barrel I hope the storm lake barrel doesn't effect anything...

Why change barrels when your only hope in doing so is that the new one is as good as the one you have?

if I could polish the factory barrel I would do so... just doing it for looks to be completely honest the gun itself performs flawlessly

You did a great job. The lettering looks completely filled and I don't see any color where it's not supposed to be. Still, I don't like it on the slide.

I'd leave it on the mags as it makes the numbers really stand out. That is nice.

You said you're not sure so, I offered a different view.

yea

I actually already took the color out of the barrel lettering I didn't like it there.... im going to leave the slide alone for now... I dark earth backstrap just came in It looks better with the tan backstrap

Just did mine in white also. Had gold for a while then back to plain. The Presto white out fine point seems to work great and the Rem oil doesn't rub it off during routine wipe down.

You can polish the barrel very easily. I did mine with a scotch brite pad and some mothers polish. It actually works faster than a dremmel and polishing wheel. Check it out on you tube.

I like what you've done. I had a chrome paint marker lying around so I took it to my Shield. I like the look of the OP's barrel so that will be next, at least the business end to start with.

Not a knock, but if you take some odorless mineral spirits and fold a paper towel like 50 times until you have a little square. Then hold it tight on the folded edge side against the bottle, tip it up to wet the towel. Then buff it across the S&W logo on the grip, it will remove that little bit of excess and not damage the polymer.
Just my $.02 Makes the job 100% But it looks good as it is.

Dang, I was hoping nobody would notice hahaa. I hadn't really done the detailing yet because I wasn't sure what I could use that wouldn't attack the plastic. Thanks for the mineral spirits tip! Worked like a champ.

You cannot fold a piece of paper, any paper, over 7-8 times. :D

Cool. A lot of us use non-acetone fingernail polish remover also. Just FYI.
