As stated previously my father passed this last week. My mother handed me my father's 686-3 6 inch that he purchased new. I won't delve too far into it as I already have a thread up on the revolver and dad.

As a bit of a return to normalcy and to take some time to my self, I took it to the range yesterday along with my 3 inch Python. Dad had the sights regulated very well. Just a click down at 15 yards put my 158 grain SWC 38 Specials where they needed to be. Took it out to 25 yards and it did well (for me). I need much more practice at 25 and 50 yards with handguns and I'm intending to do that.

Zero reliability issues with Remington, Fiocchi, and CCI primers. I say this as I'd equipped the revolver with a Wolff 14lb rebound and a reduced power "Power Rib" mainspring. I did do the "primer cup trick" on the strain screw. Otherwise the hammer fall was far too weak.

The 686 taught the short Python a few things about accuracy. No question there. I was shooting my standard 158 SWC Special load along with a 158 SWC Magnum load with Enforcer. The Enforcer load is a bit of a handful out of the 3 inch, but much less drama from the 686.

I fired about a hundred rounds of mostly Special out of both. Large majority from the Smith, and thought about dad.

It's clean again and back in the gun sock.

I have the exact same Python and love it. Sadly (as posted in the other thread) Pop's 45 is somewhere in the Atlantic Ocean. He was worried about being prosecuted for theft of Gov't property. He was making $375 a month combat pay and the 1911 cost $12!!!!!!! Tossed to over the side of the troop ship coming home.
