Took my new 64-7 and 696-1 to the range.
Picked up two new Smiths this past week and took the new girls to the range. Was quite pleased with both to say the least.
Here is the 64-7's handy work

and the very smooth shooting 696

I was pleased with the smoothness of the 64 and was exactly what I expected after shooting M10's and other fixed sight Smiths. With that heavy barrel and rubber grips, there was no recoil at all with +P loads.

The 696 was really cool. I could not believe how little recoil there was to a .44Spc out of a 3" barrel. I found myself starting out with a really tight grip. I guess I was expecting .357 type recoil out of a 3" but it just wasn't there. As I relaxed my grip a bit and got used to the trigger, I was consistently shooting tighter groups. The lower picture shows three cylinders from the 696. The large hole is the last last cylinder's group.

Very good shooting, looks like you had a good time. The 696 likes to tear big holes in that paper.

Well thanks for responding. I was starting to think it was a faux pas on this sight to mention or post pics from the range....LOL.

Yeah, the 696 is a keeper. Very accurate - obviously capable - in the right hands! I love to ping SPC plates with 240gr LSWC over 3.5gr Titegroup in Starline .44 Russian cases with Fed LP primers. Really a poof load - 692 fps - makes major power factor, however!

And - my 4" 64-8 is a keeper, too - lots of fun with some wimpy .38's!

Great shooting!!
