Took the new mod. 69 to the range !

What a very good revolver, shot some Hornady 165 grain JHP to sight in and then switched to hornady 240 grain JHP, this pistol is a *****cat to shoot with the 44 special, with the Magnum loads recoil is more, but not bad at all, very accurate, it is a" fooler" in the fact that it is not heavy like a lot of the the 29s and Ruger superblackhawks, recoil I don't believe is as bad, either. Would be easy to cary on a belt in the woods, fine revolver. Good job S&W.

I've owned two Model 29's, and a Ruger Super-Blackhawk.

I like the Model 69 better than all of them.

I owned a 629 and 69 and decided to sell the N-frame. I could shoot one as well as the other so I kept the smaller gun.

I hear you Jared. I have been looking at one for a while, then decided I would like a 460V. One of my LGS has both. Which to get first. I can tell you this, which ever one I get and perhaps both in time, my 8 3/8 629-2E isn't going anywhere.

I was the same way and then a friend got one and I shot it. The next day my trading stock went on Gunbroker and I took the plunge shortly after.

Where getting older and weight sensitive?

I admit it my prostate cancer took my Popeyes arms away. But exercising is going to get me back on track. Yes the bigger revolvers are a tad heavy but they handle the recoil better with magnum loads. Where I hunt in the hottest bear country that could matter.

Congrats. I picked up it's little brother the Model 66 in .357 and feel the same way. S&W did a great job with these two.

Love the M69. I've had two since early 2014. Unless you've shot one, you just can't understand how well these platforms handle recoil. In the Oct 2014 (#293) Handloader magazine Brian Pearce reviewed the M69.

He said the smaller L-frame's lower bore axis "translates into decreased muzzle lift, less felt recoil and quicker follow up shots".

My personal experience finds this to be true.

The Model 500 impact absorbing Hogue grips that S&W puts on the X-Frame 500, works wonders on the M69. With arthritis making itself more known to me in my hands, it's become a standard grip replacement for me on the "boomers".

And yes... they fit just fine. All recent S&W revolvers with the standardized round butt grip frame (except the smaller J-Frame) are the same dimension... K-Frame.

I'm using a Galco dual position Phoenix holster. I ordered it from Galco over the phone & I'm very happy with it.
