Ok, I'm sure something like this has been done before but I'm expanding my revolver collection after taking out my late dad's 19-3 target masterpiece and realizing how much I love a quality wheelgun. I left my property last Saturday with an evil grin after putting 150 down range in my 686. Cathartic...

I have that 19-3, of course (6")
Model 686 3-5-7 series 5"
Model 67 4"
Model 29 6.5"

I'd like a 3" barrel .357/.38 like the pre lock 66s but those are out of control expensive. A new 66 with a 2.75" barrel might very well be my next purchase... I'd also probably like to add a magnum caliber with a long barrel. I saw a 10 1/2" - barreled 29 a couple of days ago. Man that would be cool.

What are your top 5 (if you could only have 5 plus an honorable mention) S&W revolvers?

I suspect that 27 is going to keep coming up. That's a possibility as well... I just have to prioritize. I can buy one more then I'm going to have to cool it for a couple months.

Thank you for asking. Here are my top five favorite Smith & Wesson revolvers.

The top 4 were easy for me:

4" M29
2.5" M19
4" M19
4" M10

IMO #5 has to be a J frame, but it's a tough call. I own a 637 PC that I absolutely love, but I haven't sampled a bunch of J frames so I don't really know if I'd consider a 442/642 a better gun if I owned one. I don't think it would be a .357 J frame, just because they seem like overkill to me. FWIW my favorite pocket snubbie is actually my LCR327, but the 637 PC is a close second.

I have a 2.5" 686 PC, but frankly haven't warmed up to it yet.

"If I could have only five......"

.357 for all around versatility................

4" 686...... best all around utility/duty revolver going.... wadcutters to full bore .357s

3" 66 for concealed carry

Model 18 .... 4" .22 ..... or 4" 617

My 3" 60-10 ...... think micro 686

Hard not to include a 4" 66 -1

extra 686/681 or another 3" 66

ok... I am in...

4 inch 19/66... what my father carried and gave me...
3 inch 686 CS-1 2M... just a great revolver...
6 inch 629 about all you need power wise...
5 inch 625 45acp... moonclip fun...
6 inch 617 accurate and a joy to shoot for hours...

sorry but my hands just don't do J frames very well...
