I would actually like to see them turn out some top break revolvers maybe even out of the PC. I would love to have a new SW, top break, 9-shot in .22LR with perhaps an interchangeable .22mag cylinder. Barrel lengths up to 12 inches would be fun.

The PC turned out a limited run of Schofields a number of years ago. I believe they auctioned them off by serial number. Anyone here own or shoot one? Any comments on quality or comparison to the 19th century product?

Any of the 2-3" Safety Hammerless revolvers, but instead of .32 S&W or .38 S&W, how about .32 acp and .380 acp with full moon clips!?!?! :D

A while back Russia was making a polymer frame, top break in 357 Mag. But I agree, a Safety Hammerless in 380 with an improved grip would be interesting.

WOW! A .380 revolvers with moon clips?

I would second that one! something like a 38 Safety Hammerless redesigned for the shorter, more compact 380 acp with a 5-shot moon clip and a 2 1/2 or 3 inch barrel intended as a solid pocket gun. Or, has anyone ever tried to back-build a parts gun from one of the classics into a 380 with moon clips?

I would like to see a saftey hammerless in 45 acp with moon clips. barrel lengths 2-6 inches. a short barreled version would be a perfect ccw piece.

Id love to see them bring out a top break in .44 Russian, perhaps in a high finish SS that looks like nickle.

Howdy

S&W made the modern run of Schofields from 2000 to 2002. The first 125 were supplied with cherry presentation boxes and were offered in an on line auction.

They made a few changes from the originals. The firing pin was mounted on the frame. The biggest change was altering the original design of the gas ring so that they cannot be fired with Black Powder without binding up.

There are still a few of them around. One is on Gun Broker right now.

I knew a dealer who's father bought one of the Schofields and then immediately sent it back to S&W to have it class A engraved. I never did see the finished product, but I would have liked to.

I held one of them when they came out in 2000 at a dealer. They were very well made and the fit and finish were excellent. As mentioned, the firing pin was the thing I could see at a quick look.
