For me it would be a mid 80`s 586 w/6" barrel. Now that was a beautiful gun. At the time I just wanted OUT of the marriage and stupidly let her have it. Found out later that she hocked it within a month or two after the split...wish I`d have given her $$$ instead. Still makes me ill.

A Browning Challenger II .22 automatic is my second regret. Let a friend talk me out of it for some obscure reason. A beautiful and reliable .22 that shot better than I ever could.

So, from the voice of experience, hang onto your guns because at some point in time you may wish you didn`t get rid of them. Pass them down after you`re gone?...of course. Just don`t...
1) Give them to exe`s
2) Let someone talk you out of them.

Can anybody beat something as stupid as what I did with the 586?

3" 65-3, circa 1983, IIRC. Had some custom work, too (action job, bobbed/DAO hammer). Ahrends grips.

Also a 2" 64 with factory bobbed/DAO hammer. Former LE gun, IIRC.

Never regretted selling a revolver. Have not sold many. My only regret was selling a Marlin 1894c lever gun (.38/.357 JM stamped). Bought another right away. Well, a 1894cs. Crazy thing is...probably going to sell this one. Only fired it a couple times in 3 years.

Seller's regret

Around 1970 I sold my Colt Target Woodsman for about $75 I think.
When I got back into shooting 30 years later it cost me $600 for another one. Willyboy

A "12-15" dated 1903 Springfield NRA sales rifle that I foolishly sold back in 2001-02

A killer Devine, TX M1-A very early gun with wood upper handguard that I traded for a gun I can't recall.

Unfired SIG-AMT I sold back in 2009 when I moved.

Can honestly say I've never sold a S&W (I have eight of them). Gave a 642 Airweight to my cousin as a gift two years ago, which I don't regret.

No regrets with letting go or trading away any of my polymers. The only plastic gun I have left is a Ruger SR22, which is too much fun to let loose.

The only metal gun I sometimes wish I'd kept was a Ruger GP100 Match Champion. But I traded it at the LGS for a brand-new spotless NM 66 4.25", which began my affair with S&W. So ultimately no serious regrets over the MC, but it was my first revolver, and is directly responsible for starting my love of wheel guns.

Original year Mini 30, the one that has the tapered bore so you can shoot either .311 or .308 bullets.

Fortunately I found another within 50 units going by the S/N. Very accurate with 150 .308 NBT.

Passed up a DW PM7 for low $$ LNIB. Grrr! Also passed up a W. German Sig P220 in 38 Super with 9 extra OEM mags for ... I don't even want to say it was so low....

Wish I had my Colt Detective Special back. It had less than 70 rounds through it. It was in new condition. I sold it for $750 and have regretted it ever since. Too nice to mar up with carry. It funded a 442 pro and an SD9VE. Also read it was hard to find gunsmiths that knew how to work on them and parts if needed. Live and learn.

1- S&W Model 63 .22LR four inch square butt six shot

2- Walther TPH .22LR

The one I'm really sorry I sold/traded was a Sears/AYA side by side double 20 gauge I bought back in the late 70's, early 80's maybe. Word at the time was AYA had apprentices who did the engraving and checkering. It was a really nice little gun that shot just fine. I have no idea what I traded it for, but I sure wish I hadn't.

Another I sold during my "personal economic downturn" and wish I hadn't, was a S&W Model 24-3 (44 Special), with a 4" barrel, box, papers, etc. I've replaced the gun since then, but I still wish I had that first one back.

A really nice 4" 581.......and a really really nice 4505..............

The 581 traded into a Model 19 or 66 IIRC....... the 4505 became a 4566!

Not a Smith but a Walther PP in .22lr.............. fun little gun but didn't fill a nitch at the time!!!!!

Well, the one that comes to mind first is the 6" Model 16-4 I ordered when they were first announced. I enjoyed shooting it (and its companion RBH combo 32 H&R/32-20) but then got a serious Jones for Winchester single shots and sold off most of my handguns including those two. I miss them both, but that longing inspired Project 616!

The other one I miss most is a Colt Combat Commander in electroless nickel. It was mated up to a blued 38 Super upper for a sweet two caliber package... tuned by Fred Schmidt, feeding anything... why did I ever let that one go???
