Top couple of guns you REALLY wish you hadn`t let go?

I have a few: Model 27 with 3 1/2 inch barrel from 1980, Colt 3rd generation SAA in factory nickel, 4 3/4 inch barrel, .44 Special & a Belgian Hi-Power worked on by Wayne Novak (a friend of my brother). I miss the S&W the most.

Early 1970's 29-2 blue 6.5 barrel
Mid 1970's 27-2 blue 3.5 barrel
1978 27-2 blue four inch
1978 29-2 blue 6.5 inch
Colt King Cobra polished stainless
Early 1980 model 19 2.5 inch blue

I need to stop here before I get depressed"........

A 2 1/2" 66-2 with TT/ TH. And a 4" 29-2. That's my S&W regrets.
A 1975 mfg Colt Gold Cup and a 1978 Remington 700 V in .223 with a 24X Leupold (that cost $100) with which I shot a fly on the 100 yard target, round out the trail of tears.

Oh, man. Long list...

4" 27-2
4" Nickel Python
4" 48 with fitted LR cylinder
4" 15-3 (is there a pattern here?)
Sako Forrester Carbine .308 - worse, I owned it 2x and let it get away 2x
An original old model Super Blackhawk Magnaport Special
5" pre-27

There's more, but that's enough pain for one night.

1939 TT33, holster, cleaning rod, 2 magazines.
Astra 400 excellent +, holster, 4 magazines.
1896 Krag chopper, carbine config. but 24" bbl, 1903 front sight, ammo, brass, dies.
1956 Brno Sporter 8x57
I pretty much hang onto my S&Ws.

4" 24-3. Traded for a Laurona 12 gauge O/U (that I still have but rarely shoot) and $100.

Savage 2400 12 gauge over .308, made by Valmet.

Both were sold at a time when money was tight and kids were sick. I miss the guns, but in the same circumstance would probably do it again.

The Savage was my wife's. She still misses it and brings it up now and again.

As I get older I find it harder to be sentimental about material goods.

The only gun I regret selling was a Colt King Cobra with a 6" barrel. I don't make a habit of selling guns, or I'd probably regret more than just that one. That was back in the early 90s. I was low on funds and even though it needed some TLC due to all the full-house rounds I had put through it, I didn't appreciate the gun for what it was and had no idea what it would eventually be worth. I sold it to a lawyer as payment-in-kind for his services in what turned out to be a very messy divorce, so at least I can say that the gun served me well in "self-defense" :)

I ONLY SOLD A BERETTA 302 12 GA. I HAD BOUGHT IT USED AND ON THE BEATEN SIDE, HAD REFINISHED IT AND EVEN MADE A PROFIT SELLING IT. I NEVER HAD MUCH USE FOR IT, SINCE MY REMINGTONS WOULD DO A MUCH BETTER JOB AT ANYHTING, BUT STILL I REGRET SELLING IT. I NEVER GOT RICH FROM SELLING IT, AND IN THE MEAN TIME I COULD HAVE USED IT AS A "LEND TO A FRIEND" FOR THE HUNT IF NEEDED. DONE! I AM NOT SELLING ANYTHING ANYMORE. ALL THE REST I HAVE WILL FOLLOW ME TO MY GRAVE! LOL!!! :)

SORRY FOR YOUR DIVORCE FRIEND. BUT I CANNOT HELP BUT REMEMBER THE JOKE, "WHY DO DIVORCES COST SO MUCH? BECAUSE THEY ARE WORTH IT"...

....my model 10 snub, but it was the only way to get my 686, so okay.

For me, selling my first HB Model 10-6 was a mistake.
It was a Police trade.
The thing had the best D/A pull of just about any revolver I have ever shot and was a tack driver.

In my current state of health and circumstances the one S&W revolver I regret selling the most was a pre-lock 586 L-Comp. It was well used when I got it but it functioned fine and had a nice DA trigger pull. If I had it now I would be carrying it.

For the OP and others who had to do what you had to do with divorce and losing your guns.

Maybe this will make you feel a little better. Twice friends of mine have had similar "fights at the lawyers offices" with now ex's and of course didn't turn out well for them and their Smiths/Colts/bank accounts.

In both cases (years apart) the guys called me and said the ex was probably headed for the LGS or pawn to get rid of the firearms sooner or later and if I wanted to call I could probably snag a real bargain for cash money. Worked for me.....2 times....a Colt OMM for 2 Benjamin's and a Grant, and a S&W 19-3 for $200.

Everybody happy.....especially the guys when I let them know I had their ex-guns and we could make a deal whenever they got back on their feet. Both said...."ah...revenge is sweet".

So, get a buddy to call your ex and offer quick cash for a face to face deal and beat the LGS/pawns who aren't going to give them **** either, but at least you may be able to get it back another day.

Browning HP I bought back in the early 80's. Sold it to a guy from church and have been trying to buy it back ever since.

Next would be a CPO unfired Sig P228.

A first year production Colt Ace from 1931, ANIB with papers. I got a great price for it but I still wish I still had it.

There are two...

which immediately come to mind

1) a SIG-Sauer P226X6 - all stainless, superbly made, much more accurate than I was (or still am for that matter)

2) a Springfield Armory TRP Operator - beautiful gun but it seemed that every time I fired it something else would fall off or break.

I had a Colt Gold Cup 1911 from the mid 80's
I had a 6in Ruger SS Security Six 357
I had a Colt 4" Diamonback 22lr
And there was one rifle.................Oh so beautiful.......An Anschutz in 22 Hornet!

If I 'had' them again I would be very thankful but I don't:(

However I have been enjoying my new guns so the memories of the old guns are all a part of life's travels:D

You want us to try beat you doing something stupid?(even though I'm sure you aren't stupid!);well here goes.
No 1:a model 1988 N frame in satin stainless .45ACP 5'' bbl one of 5000.Sweet sweet trigger in both SA and DA but wait, there's more...
No 2:a perfectly good shooting 4'' model 66 that I sold for raising the dough for a Sig 226....that I managed to blow up in just 450rds(had been sold a powder that wasn't packaged right+ my bad habit of loading at max level...then).
Now,I bet that you can't find stupider than that!

My 1880 Smith 44 Russian that I bought for $100 in 1982 and sold for $400 in 1995. I have yet to replace it. Of course, I can't add a nice picture because it's gone!
