Torture me with 27-2 stories!

Picked these two up the same day.. Thus began the enevitable slide.

I keep posting this one cause I like to look at it. APD #261. A member here found the Austin PD history for it recently. Thank you oh so very much. It did not come with the original grips, so I get to play dress up with it.

Rather not quote the price, but the "dealer" pawnbroker set up at gunshow apparently thought the extra ADP markings ruined the gun.:D

27-2 auction gun

Nice pictures and great stories. My 27-2 came from an auction nearby late last year. Dates to somewhere between '80 and '83. 4 incher with R/R sight, and 3 Ts. Came with original numbered box, tool kit and most of the paperwork. It lacked the instruction manual. Very faint turn line.
Auction price of $600. I expected it to go higher and was prepared to pay more. Glad to get it at that price.

Then last week I picked up this 6" Model 27-2 from a co-worker for $250. Just missing the rear site assembly, but he did give me a rail and an Aimpoint 1000 for it.

I'm in the process of trying to get a 4" Model 27 from another guy at work, but he doesn't know whether he wants to sell it yet or not. He said he'll almost definitely sell it upon retirement. Should be right around $100-$150.. :p

You better look out for when those guys at work figure out what those are worth...

Hang on a dog gone minute Iggy your own words

These here stories is just heart breakin'. Yup, purentee heart brakin'.

Sumbody git a rope!!!

Well, I can't say as I got the great prices some of the others have.
I'm hoping I just bought them too soon.

I carry this one to keep from scuffin' up the blue ones.

I bought a M27 no-dash 3 1/2" 4 screw in factory nickel last year out of a funeral home in Tennessee for $675 delivered. The funeral director took it as payment for his services many years ago and it sat in a desk drawer since. It is a blast to shoot. I doubt I'll ever part with it.

Ok, about a year ago, I spied a 5" nickel 27-2 with appropriate football cut out target stocks that looked pristine and he was asking $775....it was pristine with tt, th, ts and patridge frt sight....I knew there wasn't a correct box or it's contents but he did have an era correct blue box he'd throw in. So I say I'll take it. He then shows me an identical model with similar ser# (both from 1978) and an 8-3/8" bbl and offers me a bundle for the two @ $1400......I wasn't prepared to buy two that day so abruptly counterd with $1350 where upon he says no, pauses, then says let's do it! So, Shazam, I rolled out with two minty nickel 27-2's.....and since then, the gun store has closed sadly.....John's in Bastrop, Tx. Sad that the correct boxes were not available.....

.....in this life.

I iz sure the gun is to die for...yes sir! ;):D:D

More than any of the ones in my earlier photo...

'Spose it's worth the $675 I paid?

Drew-

Want to make a little profit on that 27-1...The only 27 I need is the one you just posted...

Or...I have Complete Package Pre 27 3.5's to trade...

either way...BEAUTIFUL revolver...Would love to have one in my Collection..

thanks for sharing..

Bought these two, sold one last year for 550.
Even to this day I don't know why I sold it. I really don't.....
The poor old elderly guy told me how he wanted one, couldn't ever find one, would probably die without ever getting a 27-2 like mine. So I sold it.
Then the next day I found out he's the guy putting on the gun show.....

Jim,

I'm sorry... I shouldn't tease so.

I'm not selling at this point.

Hope you find one on your own. Looks like you're having a pretty good run of late...

They don't care. Only reason 80% of the guys at work even own a gun is because it's a requirement for the job. These aren't gun people, and some guys give their gun away when they retire. I ask them what they want for it and that's the price they tell me. They're just happy to get rid of them. Its an odd situation in which both party's feel gratified. I've been very lucky so far and picked up about 2 dozen S&W's for a little more then a handshake and a single C note..

I have a pre 27 and it is wonderful, absolutely wonderful.

I have a 27.2 in 3.5". It is Christmas in the eyes of a child every time I see it.

I've owned 27-2's in the past, a nickel 6.5" another in 3.5" and more over the years that I traded or sold. The 3.5 and the 6.5 above all other 27-2's haunt me. It was like dropping a puppy off at the pound or leaving your children at an orphanage.

Go read some Edgar Allen Poe in a dark room by candle. You will hear the rapping of the 27 want but will hear nevermore, nevermore.

Put a WTB ad on a local (PHX) gun forum and picked up this '66 Utah Highway Patrol 3.5" 27-2 for $400, private AZ to AZ resident sale.

The C*** "snake" was $505 new, OTD.

1992: Traded a Universal M1 Carbine for a NIB 6" M27-2 with box for $100 boot (his). but due to financial difficulties..........

1998: found an estate 6" M27-2 (TT, TH, Magna stocks and box w/ S&W sight tool and paperwork. Got some Curac Target gro[s and it's my favorite hunting/target revolver.
