I recently acquired a 629-4 that is virtually pristine, except for an annoying scratch on the top of the barrel. It runs through the matte finish and about half of the serrations on the sight rib. I'm pretty adept at polishing out light scratches on the regular stainless finish, but I was wondering if anyone has any tricks besides bead-blasting to "tone down" scratches on that matte finish that Smith uses on the top of all their SS revolvers. If you do have to re-bead blast it, what medium will reproduce the factory finish. I would like to have this thing looking mint, as it is a smooth triggered -4 with the somewhat uncommon 5" barrel.
