I got the TractionGrips I ordered for my SD9VE in the mail today, and I was surprised to read that I am supposed to clean the grip frame with hot water and dish soap. I assumed it would say to clean it with alcohol.

Anyone else here installed traction grips? Did you use soap and water, or alcohol? (I do believe in following the manufacturer's directions, but sometimes there are other, better ways than specified.)

I used alcohol for my traction grips installation. I put Talon Grips on my Shield, and they came with an alcohol swab. Figured if it was good for that it would be good for the traction grips too. I put the traction grips on an SR9c about 3 months ago and they are sticking great.

I installed mine exactly as they said. I did pull the slide off and just had the frame. After you wash it you use a hair dryer to completely dry it which also gets that plastic vary warm and the traction grips just glues its self to the plastic. Mine have not moved or started to peel

Well, I finally got around to trying to install the traction grips...and I was very disappointed to find that they don't fit the grip outline....they are bigger and overlap them, if that makes sense. The two side pieces are not cut to fit the outline of the existing cuts on the frame. I tried to cut them to fit the exact outline, and of course made a mess of it, so I ended up throwing the whole mess away.

I wonder why they weren't designed to fit the grip outline? Oh well, it was less than $10.

Can anybody post a pic. of theirs installed ?

How many pieces come with the set ?

Found some pics. but only looks like 2 side pieces and 2 smaller pieces.

Thanks,3

SD40VE Traction Grips

Put mine on about a week ago. Went to the range yesterday. I liked how the traction grips felt.

Addition to answer your question: comes in seven pcs. Left, right and front of grip. One for under the trigger guard and three ovals. I've seen pics of people putting two of the ovals out on the finger locater spots under the slide but I believe they belong on the left and right side of grip for thumb and trigger finger.

Thanks for the pics. and info men.

Doesn't the one under the trigger guard rub your finger raw ?

I under cut my guard pretty good and took some off the trigger finger side also (right handed).

My middle finger rubbed on the guard bad when shooting the .40.

I put some on from Galloway, didn't care for the large pieces, as they did not look like they were made for the gun. Took those off, left the oval thumb grips and the one beneath the trigger guard. As stated above, they looked like generic cutouts, and not meant specifically for the SD. Oh well.

That set comes with two large palm pieces, two thumb pieces, and one trigger guard piece.

I took the piece off the trigger guard and put it on top of the slide. I have the blackhawk CQC holster and with that piece on the trigger guard it would not fit in the holster

Funny enough, I emailed TractionGrips today and asked if the grips listed under 'Smith and Wesson SW9V and SW940V' fit my SW40C. I was told SW9C is the original grip for this design. That might explain any issues about fitting properly? I think there are small size differences between the first generation sigmas and the later, I think.

I did go ahead and order one tonight. I will post some pics if ya want when I get them installed.
