Have 629PC 2 3/8" with 3 grips and nice Lobo holster that due to my arthritic condition, I doubt I will ever shoot again. Can shoot the same loads out of a 629 5" without problem. But the 44 Mag snub that was so much fun in my youth is nothing but painful in my old age.

There's a 986PC 2 3/8" at the LGS and I'm contemplating a trade. Never shot one but it can't be any worse than my 240gr H110 handloads.

Good idea or no? Feels like a trade down in some ways but if I can't reliably shoot the 44 Mag snubbie, then why hang on to it?

The 986 is a seven shot 9mm. You would really enjoy that one. You will need moonclips and tools from TK Custom. Some people don't like moonclips, but they are no different than loading a semi auto magazine. I have several different moonclip guns and shoot them a lot. I think it would be a good trade in your situation.

I like my 986 PC. Life is to short to have something you won't use and not have something you will use.

Moon clips are nice to use. No picking up brass. Get a good tool to! There are several out there. I one I use is no longer manufactured.

I went for it, sold the 629PC and several others, put 986PC on layaway.

Why not?
