I have a 2 1/2" 66-3 in really nice condition. I'm contemplating a trade for a hk usp9. Should I do it?

A NIB H & K USP 9 mm seems to be priced online in the range of the value of your 66-3, but used ones are in the $450 range. The USP may be a fine gun but it is easily replaceable; you will search long and hard to replace your 66 should you decide to trade it. Personally I would save up to buy whatever else you want, and keep your S & W.

Nope, hang on to that snub 66. Lay out the cash if you want a HK, they are easy to come by, but good quality snubs are not easily found and the current production guns are not up to par with the earlier guns.

Good luck.

Is the HK is still in production? If so, the HK is easily replaced and since the Model 66 is no longer made, it isn't. Sounds like an easy decision to me.

I've owned a stainless slide USP9 Compact. Yes, H&K makes a nice firearm but no way I'd even consider this trade. One day I realized that my USP was size-wise for me not a great CCW and I moved it along. As nice of a shooter as the USP's are, I still wouldn't give up a 66 snubby. Just too many good plastic fantastics out there versus what you have in the quality and limited supply of your 66.

^^ Ding Ding Ding - we have a winner. ^^

In addition, trying to get anything that looks like adequate customer service from H&K will be a great way to test your patience. "Awful" is a gross understatement. Seriously, you are more likely to Orange Juice from a cow than have a positive experience with H&K. Good guns in a lot of ways, but as a company, an ingrown hair in a place you can't reach.

That's something that's been repeated over and over but in reality it dated back to the 90s. Give them a call now and see what you get.

You May Want To do a little research first.

Before you even consider selling your M66-3 2.5" you should go to Gun Broker and check out what they are not only asking for but selling for. They are on fire. I have been watching them weekly for the past year after getting hooked upon finding a 66-4 on GA by sheer luck for $500. Since then I have added a -2 and -3 both purchased on GB with the same scenario. I usually bookmark affordable and potential listings weekly. In both cases I was bookmarking and found both the -2 and -3 with a starting price of $500 and a "BUY IT NOW" of $600, they both had been listed for less than 2 hours and both seller were individuals not in tune with the market value. I should add that all three are in the 95% range and after a little cleaning, lubricating and waxing are very nice specimens. I swapped the factory rubber grips with some Ahrends and Hogue grips of which I like the feel of the Ahrends a little better.
I forgot to give Lobo Leather credit for the beautiful pancake holster with the quick and easy to remove belt loops feature, I only waited a few weeks and Ray is a very good communicator I enjoyed working with, Kudos.

I think our in house statistical genius 5wire who tracks models for their trending prices recently noted that the M66 2.5" over the past 3 months has averaged $675 in comparable condition to the ones I mentioned. If you find anything at least on GB for under $700 today it will have more than a few cosmetic issues. If you do decide to sell your M66 (DON'T) and ever want to replace it be prepared to pay mightily. I know some folks may think the prices noted are high but they pertain strictly to online purchases. The last M66 I purchased was practically new and you can tell buy the heavier action but the other two are smooth as silk. These photos are of the M66-2 and 4, I have yet to find the proper grips for the -3. Good Luck

Well yea. Just like all the other answers. The question. ....."should I do it" is answered by everyone based on their own wants and needs.

What I meant to ask was were you offering to trade your USP for his 66? That would be a heartbeat decision for me :).
