If you are happy that's all that matters. As for me I would of kept the 686, that's just me. If you like the deal, then it's a great addition to your collection.

I carry a Glock. I prefer my revolvers to be big. But if you are happy, you did well. You can always trade for another 686 tho. I would be very happy to own a 686 or 66.

Cus all us "gun nuts" were hearing in our local gun shops the tall tale that it was only a matter of time until the .357 ammo we were shooting would crack the forcing cones of the 66s we had.

Gun rags didn't help......just spread that tall tale faster..... wasn't until forums like this came along that we got the truth .......

Yep! The hype from the magazines was definitely a factor. That, and those of us (including me) that just plain wanted the "latest and greatest" from S&W! I ended up having a 4" and 6" 686, and a 681, before it was over. Of course, I wasn't smart enough to actually keep any of them....
