Trade value on 6906?

I found a 6906 that appears to be in excellent condition with two mags, original box and paperwork. Could someone give me a ball park value on it. He wants to trade only and is interested in a NIB FN Herstal FNS-9 I have. I paid $500 for the FN.
I checked GB and most have considerable wear on them. Any help is appreciated, I want this to be a fair trade for both of us. I have been wanting one of these in this condition for some time now. Here is a pic of the 6906....

As much as I like the 6906, I think the FN is probably worth more. The 6906 is in very good shape, and is utterly reliable. I just don't see it as a $500.00 gun.

It depends on how much you want the 6906, I don't see it as a bad deal straight up trade. The way I see it your getting a better gun. To get my two tone 457 I traded my FNX 40 even up. I felt I got the better deal, don't get me wrong as I liked the FN and it is a great gun but I like 3rd end way better. , you need to decided what's best for you. You can always buy a 6906 and keep the FN.

Yea, maybe I'll tell him the FN and $60 cash or ammo and see what he says. I would buy it outright from him if he would sell it, but he is adamant about trading.

Off topic, but can anyone tell roughly the age of it by the box?

Look at the label. The "Spec Order" field is the date of manufacture. The first digit is the year, the last three are the date on the Julian calendar.

Something to think about is how you're going to use the 6906. I have one and a 6904 but both have the round trigger guards which are easier to find holsters that fit. Having said that neither of mine are LNIB and if it's a collection/range gun then it doesn't matter and the one you've pictured is an outstanding example.

I should say I "had" a 6906 as my oldest daughter adopted it. But my 6904 is my daily companion.

I decided to make him the offer of the FN, plus $100 on his end or sell the 6906 outright for $450. He said he would sell it to me, which is awesome as I don't really like getting rid of firearms I have never shot. The only reason I thought about trading the FN is I have been hooked on all metal guns lately.

Id grab it for $450.00......the 3rd Gens are exceptional guns....a few years from now that will be a $600.00 gun and rising....I just got a 4013TSW , I like it but would rather have a 9mm. The .40 has a lot of muzzle flash and quite a bit of recoil.

That is an earlier model 6906 as evidenced by the "hooked" trigger guard. As Ihump mentioned earlier, this can be an issue when trying to find a holster for it if you intend on carrying it. I owned a 6906 like yours - it had a S&W factory plastic case and 3 factory magazines. I am one of those poor unfortunates whose hands don't fit a S&W semiauto, and I couldn't hit the side of a barn if I was nailed to it with the piece. I was finally able to trade it for a CZ-75B. The 6906s come up for sale fairly often around here, and the prices are usually in the $375.00 - $400.00+ range. Because I can't hit with one, I'd pass on the deal and look at something else.

The Bianchi 19 was made for the square trigger guard 469/6906 series of guns and can still be found. It is likely some of the custom makers on the forum still own molds as well.

Then there are shoulder rigs.

While the 6906 is nice the going rate on GB is not that high on the square trigger guard 3rd gen guns. I would ask at least 100 and probably closer to 150. If he goes with this you got a good deal.

Thanks for the tips guys. This will be a range toy and doubtful I will ever carry it. If I can't hit squat with it, it will just be another safe queen as it is so clean. Since I live in a small town, these are pretty rare and most I have seen on the internet and GB are police trade in's and pretty worn.

I am probably paying top dollar for it, but like I said, these just don't come up around here for sale. I did see a closed GB auction where one with two mags and box sold for $430 + shipping with some wear. So I am in that ball park at $450 for a nicer gun without having to pay shipping or transfer fees. Plus I am keeping my yet to be fired FNS-9.

I've had good luck with this ebay seller on finding holsters for my 3rd gens. The prices are good and since I'm a lefty was able to find them with ease. american*heritage*gunleather on eBay
