Went to the gun show today. Turned out great for the attendees - all the tables were filled, but a fairly light public turn out at the time I was there. This allowed folks to view the table without having to feel like a people sandwich.

Traded with a dealer I have know for many years. I decided on the full size .45 (4 & 1/2 inch barrel). No thumb safety - no mag disconnect.

New .45 on right - M&P 9 on left. Black Hawk uses a different model number for their M&P .45 SERPA holster, however the 45 fits perfectly in the M&P 9 Black Hawk holster I have. Sticks out a tiny bit at the bottom.

very nice combination! I have an M&P 9 mm compact, and am strongly considering adding an M&P 45 full size to it. Thinking of going with the thumb safety version of the 45, and skipping the purchase of a new 1911 (for awhile, anyway).

Well Starman, I hope you didn't trade off the 9mm for the 45. You will want one of each M&P. They all have their place.

I carry a 40 every day as CCW. Use a 9L for the IDPA games, and a 45 for plinking pleasure. And that they all work perfect from the same Serpa is a real bonus.

I still have the M&P 9. Traded off another brand. I like to keep my Smith & Wessons.

I usually go to the farm mid week, so I will get a chance to shoot the .45 between tractor mowing lawn, mower mowing and such.

I also have the blackhawk serpa i use with my 45 midsize. It scratches the hell out my slide. Anyone else have this problem? Any remedies?

Congrats on the new M&P. I have the full size 45 in the flat dark earth frame. I removed the thumb safeties as they do nothing for me but get in the way and ordered up some frame plugs from Smith to fill the gaps. I like the M&P's so much that I have sold off all my personally owned Glocks and have an M&P 45 compact waiting at the dealer to serve as my new off duty gun. The only Glock I still use is my department issue Glock 22 which I am mandated to carry on duty.

I have a serpa for my full size 40 and don't have a problem. I did losen up the tenchon so it slips in and out easy, it was to snug from the factry.
