aka: the equalizers.
I do it. I pass slower traffic all the time. I simply don't like to follow other cars for various reasons. On the interstate, I pass much more than I get passed. On local roads, I wait for an opening and go around. For this reason, I appreciate a car with good acceleration.
I remember my high school years when it took nearly a mile to accelerate and pass someone in my 4 cylinder Nissan truck.
On one occasion I was dead even with the car I was passing and an on-coming car popped up over the hill. I edged over into the grassy right-of-way and let the on-coming car pass in between us. I never took my foot off the gas and continued the pass! The things we survive as stupid kids by the grace of God! I never told my children about that one, so mum's the word.
Often, however, I will pass someone only to have them catch up with me at a traffic light. I've seen others (the slower drivers) post about this as some sort of reckoning or revenge.
I was driving yesterday and pulling my cargo trailer. I was exhausted from work, on the way home, and going just over 50 in a 55 zone. A truck flies around me and disappears down the road. No biggy, I would have done the same.
Three miles later...you guessed it...there he is!

I snapped a quickie to document the "reckoning".
Check out my odometer. I recently passed 100K on my 2010 F250. I'm keeping this one. I drive it...it doesn't drive me or spy on me.
