Treading water here..

Being a Central Floridian , I know what you're going through . I was born here , so I can put up with a lot . No power , constant wind and rain , no gas . The one thing I hate is a cold shower . I can jump in the pool , but it's not the same . So believe me when I say , my heart goes out to you and your family . Stay safe and stay dry , if it's possible .

Plenty of water here in Deer Park. My big problem? Trying to decide which topwater plug to tie on. My back yard now falls into the category of water bodies I judge to be suitable for fishing.

I'm up to 15" so far. The good part is that except for this morning it has been slow enough that it could drain off. It got pretty rough about 0800 and before it slowed down the crown of the street was under and water was coming up into the yard.

Lots of places in this area are have serious flooding. Power outages. Streets impassable trapping those that didn't evacuate and lots of homes taking water inside.

So far we are not exactly high and dry but we are keeping our heads above water. The ground is fairly saturated but as long as it doesn't rain too hard for too long and gets done with us SOON we might squeak by without getting any water in the house. Power can go at any time but we have flashlights, candles, a propane cook stove and sterno. We have survived worse with less.

Prayers up for those who haven't been or will not be so lucky.

Update: We just got the announcement that the flood watch that was supposed to expire a couple of minutes ago has been extended to 4:30PM. Miss Pam and I looked at each other and I jumped up and did some checking on our supplies.

Looks like we'll be ok. We have plenty of coffee and more importantly we have beer and Cheetos to last 4 days. Should be all over one way or another by then.

Coffee, beer and Cheetos. Shucks, all you lack from the FDA food pyramid is pizza, so I think you'll be OK just the same. :D:D
Best of luck to you both!

Just made it from the Galleria to Clear Lake in 38 minutes without splashing a puddle. 610 and the Gulf freeway were completely clear. I hope that it drains from here despite the ongoing showers.
