Trigger feel.

I feel a little silly asking this question.

I was able to fire a 28-2, 27-2, and 686 today.

The N frame triggers (single action) somehow felt "better". A little crisper.

My imagination? I'm not familiar enough with the mechanisms to have a technically correct view point.

Well, those old N frames have sure had time to get broken in. Over time the steel trigger mechanism polishes itself out with long use. Moreover, perhaps the springs in the old guns may have weakened just a tad over the years -- making the pull a bit lighter by comparison.

I suspect it is one of those subjective things. I'm trying to decide on my next revolver purchase.

I'm leaning toward a 28-2 or 27-2. I can always get a 586 or 686 later I guess.

Yessir, get those N-Frames first. And get both the M28 and M27, and of course in all of the various barrel lengths.

I'm not necessarily kidding. You are going to become like the rest of use and only "one" won't do.

And you may probably like the L-Frames as well...and then the K-Frames...and then the J-Frames.

In my collection I have all types and trigger pulls vary as much as the guns do. The frame size does not matter.

Even in the new stuff I was amazed at how good the trigger was on my 625 when I bought it. It was not out of the Performance Center just a production revolver. Still love that guy.

The N-frame enthusiast in me agrees wholeheartedly. The K-frame aficionado says you're nuts.

Trigger feel among all S&W revolvers in an almost mystical thing; each one -- even among identical models -- has its own personality.

In my experience, limited as it may be compared to other folks here, I have found that every old Smith I have owned/handled has a little bit smoother/lighter trigger than newer models.

Not saying the newer ones have "bad" triggers at all, just that the older ones are just a cut above.

Just my experience...
