Why not just by the Ruger SRH and don't think the s&w 629 is better .

I think it's the Super Red Hawk .44 Magnum, maybe others, that has the concave in the trigger guard so it doesn't bang the middle finger. I'd really like that option on the 629-* revolvers.
If the 629 is banging your finger ... you need some properly fitting stocks ... See the stocks on the model 58 in my avatar ...
Kim Ahrends Retro Combats ... they eliminate all finger banging !
Sadly Kim mAhrend is no longer in business but search the net and see if you can find some Ahrends (his grips were designed right) ... I have K. A. Retro Combats on all my shooters .

Perhaps another member can suggest their Grip Maker and model that helps with the finger banging !

The revolver you might be thinking of is the Ruger Super Blackhawk with the "Dragoon" style trigger guard .
I have never seen one on a 629 ... possible yes but I think different grips to be more prctical .
Keep On Keeping On ... You can find a solution .

I use hogue hardwood square butt finger groove grips on all of my S&W revolvers
They can be had chequered or not with finger grooves or without
Fit my hands very well , really helps soak up the recoil of the 629
I have large hands and those dragoon trigger guards on the rugers are unusable to me , beats my middle finger to death lol
