Just curious, after 200rds at the range lastnight my trigger finger was starting to get a little sore,is there any type of kit or mod available to 1-get rid of all of the slop in the stock trigger pull, and 2-make the trigger not so difficult to squeeze???

Rock River Arms two stage match trigger. It's definitely worth the money and will reduce the trigger pull to about 4lbs. There are other things people have tried but I went with a new trigger and I dont regret the money one bit!

I did the 15 minute trigger job on my 15-22 and a RRA 2-stage national match trigger in my AR15.

The RRA is an amazing trigger, but costs a bit of money (as any 2 stage will. The RRA is actually on the less expensive end, but still great quality.)

The 15 minute trigger job was free, easy, and reduced the trigger pull for me by about half. I would say try it out, if you don't like it then you are out $0 and then can still buy replacement springs (like the JP yellow springs) or get an entirely new trigger like the RRA.

go with the RRA 2stage.. you wont regret it. crisp, clean what more could you ask for. or you could go with JP spring kit but i like the break in the 2stages.

My M&P15-22 has had the "15 minute trigger job" and also the JP Yellow springs. Both made the trigger very nice. The yellow springs are still in there because they were the last installed.

I have much nicer triggers in my Bushmaster and LWRC 5.56mm carbines, but even the Rock River 2-stage is well over $100 -- in a $400 rifle!

RRA two stage trigger

I asked RRA the following question:
Re: M&P 15-22. Nutnfancy says that he replaced the stock trigger with an RRA two stage trigger. Would AR0093NMK be the correct item?

RRA confirmed that AR0093NMK is the correct part but did not recommend it for the M&P 15-22. Why? A concern that a direct blow back rifle might snap the hammer off at the neck.

Could anyone help me with this possible non-issue? After all, it's only a .22lr! How does the factory S&W hammer survive?

What version are you shooting?

Just curious.

The Performance Center 15-22 has a RRA 2-stage trigger group. I have heard of the the hammer snap but I didn't shoot my PC more than about 5-600 rounds before I sold it.
My PC's trigger was heavy, like 7lbs. heavy, when I bought it.

Yes, your FCG can be smoothed up for next to nothing and give you a decent trigger.

Good luck and keep it safe!

Weird... When I emailed RRA directly to ask if there were any issues using their NM2 trigger in the 15-22, they said no, it'd be fine as a straight drop-in.

Still waiting for my NM2 to arrive in the UK so that I can try it out for real though...

i believe my 15-22 is listed by S&W as "Model M&P15-22 Rifle (Compliant)", SKU: 811031 (I live in a gun-unfriendly state).

RRA lists the trigger as "AR0093NMK RRA Two Stage Trigger Kit $120.00".

There is no "NM2" trigger kit that I can find.

What can be done to improve the stock 15-22 trigger with reasonable home gunsmithing? Also, does the 15-22 have a reputation for breaking S&W stock hammers?

Thanks for the YT, Dutchdiamondback.

The problem isn't trigger creep, but the whole way the trigger breaks.

One thought on RRA: the military likes hard primers. It could be that the hammer in the two stage trigger kit hits too hard for the 15-22 and eventually snaps.

I wish someone from the Performance Center would comment. It looks to me like the RRA two stage needs a softer spring before installation on the 15-22. The spring replacement might be secret S&W tradecraft.
