Hi New guy here with a need M&Pc. Went to the range tody and put 200 rounds though her without any problems. The only thing I dont like is the gretty trigger pull. Would it help to polish the sear or should I just order the Apex kit.

Take a look at this and see if you're good to go with it.
I think this is very doable.
I would only do enough to smooth the trigger and perhaps reduce take up.
The 45C I have is breaking at 7- 15, this is for twenty pulls. This pistol is brand new. I only object to the little gravel feel in the take up and the amount of take up itself.
Honestly for a carry pistol I'm good to go with it as it is. But I will give this a try but I'm not really going to try and reduce pull by a lot just a little smoother.

Order the Apex parts. By the time you spend enough time and money dry firing or shooting the grittyness out, the Apex parts will have paid for itself.
Not always. I dry fired mine 500 times with no improvement. What works for you may not work for others. But I KNOW the Apex parts will work.

I just did a trigger pull avg for 20 pulls. The avg was 7 - 15 I'm actually okay with that I'm sure it'll improve a little after a couple hundred rounds.
I'm going to work on trigger take up and the gritty feel. I'm sure I can get rid of almost all of that. If I can't I'll buy the apex parts.
Kinda different to get the boing feeling with the striker versus other systems. I'm sure you won't feel that when you are actually firing it just a different sound and feeling.
Love the pistol money well spent and I'm going to enjoy several years of having fun shooting it.

My M&P9 trigger is 4 pounds 9.3 ounces (average of sample of 10), as close to 4-1/2 pounds as it needs to be.
Dan Burwell did the trigger work and some minor stippling for an index point about 18 months ago. Wonderful work. Hate to say it but the Apex parts will probably yield close to this without the expense of sending the pistol away. (Sights are Bowie green front, yellow rear.)

I couldn't agree more and in my case even after 700rds down range I could feel no perceptible difference in the reduction of the "gritty" take up action of my trigger, which is what prompted me to go with the Apex DCAEK/USB & RAM Mods. I completed all installations (except the increased trigger spring rate change) and I could really tell it made a HUGE difference for me. I was able to tell immediately at the range that the Apex Mods vastly improved my trigger action and in turn aided my accuracy (I had tended to be low and left (I'm a lefty) that seems to have gone away and the resultant accuracy is much more in line with what one would expect from a modern handgun. My biggest improvement was realized in the rapid fire (and I don't mean that to be super fast but more like 1 rd per second) because I am able to recover better since I am no longer experiencing as much position upset due to the characteristics of the OEM trigger components and my failed efforts to compensate for it. Again I qualify my opinion as what works for me, and how I responded to the Apex Mods, basically I couldn't be happier, unless it came from S&W that way.
The M&P trigger is what kept me from buying one, and 99% of the complaints I see are about the gritty trigger and reset. I don't know why S&W hasn't cued in on this and made the necessary improvement/changes (unless they own stock in Apex?).

I have felt a trigger that had 1000+ on it and it is in no way close to the Apex kit I have in mine with less than 500 rounds. I think sometimes it has more to do with folks getting used to the gritty trigger than it actually going away.

I did the Burwell job on my first M&P 45 ( and the Apex on the other two.) Don't get too worried /wrapped up in changing angles on the sear. It will still come out VERY acceptable and markedly improved with just the rest of the polishing work.
