triggers for 9c

Want to install a new trigger mech in my new 9c. Should I go with the original APEX DCAEK kit or go with the new Forward Set Sear and Trigger Kit. Curious as to what everyone has to say. Thanks.

What is it you don't like about the stock trigger? This will drive which way to go.

The only thing I didn't like was every week after 200-300 rounds at the range my finger got sore from the shape of the trigger. So, I just dropped in the new APEX Poly trigger in both my FS and my compact. The shape of the new trigger is great, much smoother and more comfortable. If you want to change the travel and break and the function of the trigger, then you need the whole kit with sear & striker block, etc. I didn't make any changes until about 2000 rounds and knew what I wanted, so I guess Rastoff's question is good - what is it that you don't like?

Compared to the stock trigger, the FSS moves the break a little forward, and removes almost all the take-up/pre-travel. The DCAEK trigger will add a little more take-up, but it will reduce the sear pull and over-travel. Both have smooth pulls and crisp breaks. Both kits reduce trigger pull weight, compared to the stock pull.

Basically I like the triggers on the Glocks but do not like the grip angle. The short travel to break, crisp break and short reset are really nice on the glocks and if I could duplicate that on the M&P it would be the perfect gun. I do have a full size with the DCAEK trigger kit and really like it but was curious about that new Forward Set Sear and Trigger. Thanks..I have no illusion that any "modification" will make me a better shooter or replace practice, but do believe that with practice and a good gun I can be better.

I don't shoot Glocks but people who do have shot my 9Pro with the FSS and polymer trigger comment on how similar it is to the Glock trigger. Only way to know if you're going to like it is find someone who has one and ask them if you can shoot their pistol. You don't have a location listed but if you were local to me I wouldn't have any problem with you shooting mine.

I don't know if anyone knows here, but the triggers make mention of the "modern" 1/8 and older 1/16 inch diameter sear springs.

I have a new CORE 9L pistol. Does anyone know if this has the "modern" sear housing block they mention?

Now I have to find the proper size Allen key for the safety plunger. On a CORE pistol, its under the optic plate and not the sight.

Another poster thought it was a 1.27, but mine has too much slop. A 1.5 doesn't fit, so I'm buying a 1.3mm and hoping its a fit.

It's a T-5 torx, after I figured that out by myself, Apex confirmed it in an email. Here's a paste from that email

We're working on updating all of our install videos so the Core will definitely be mentioned.

The screw is a Torx bit that's a T5 size. We've received a few calls about them now.

The kit will work with the factory plunger, but the pull will not be as smooth.

That is odd because I took a jeweler's loop, and it does not look like a torx screw.

I just now photo'd the screw through my loop, and it looks like an allen to me.

My T5 is too small, and the T6 doesn't fit.

Let you know what I find.

Strange, you see the answer I got from Apex. I finally forced a t6 in there and got it out after screwing around for a week trying to find the proper size allen wrench. Good thing was once I got that t6 to grab, the screw wasn't very tight.

I put the APEX DCAEK kit in my wife's FS 9 that was purchased end of 2012. I came from Glocks and wanted to get closer to that feel and get rid of the gritty/mushy feel. The kit made it much better, and closer to a Glock, but it's not as good IMHO.
I just purchased a 9c which has a better trigger/sear etc. than the FS9 had. Don't think I'll do anything to this other than polish the parts. That being said, if yours is a newer model w/ the improved sear, you may not gain much installing the kit, other than a lighter wallet. lol
